I've been on KVR for years but I've never posted any music in the music cafe'. So... I started looking at my mp3 directory and wondering if it could work as a collection. Could it be mastered together to sound like it was meant to be that way? ( evidently... no. :hihi: )

I wanted to do it chronologically, so maybe it's too much of a challenge. Especially considering that I was working in everything from Cubase to XT2. It's a lot of different working environments, testing stuff out over a long period of time and it's all over the place musically to be called albums but accepting all of that, here is vols - 1 & 2 :hihi:

Warning: Do not expect this to be all trance just because the new tune is trance! You will be disappointed. It's mostly guitar rock/experimental with some synth music thrown in. :ud:

Wait, at first I was about to download all of this to check out a respected acquaintance's music (f**king finally!) but I'd like a more firm assurance that I'm not about to download trance. Experimental guitar/synth rock sounds intriguing, though.

I tomg swear, there is not a single "tune" with a disco drum track. However it's only fair warning that track 6 has some disco style strings.

It's mostly just crap but I'm thinking it actually works as a collection. Who knew? I'm stunned. :o

I want to stress that this is just a collection of KVR demos I did from time to time. Don't expect much and you'll be on the money.

At no time was I "writing" a song to include on an album. I'm just playing a little music (or making noise) to demo a new effect or synth.

you've sort of got that deconstructive thing going.. you don't work in music technology by any chance...

some bits are nice, some are pretty wrong by industry standards.. the agile ear mind of the technologist drifts from interest region to interest region..

Oh yeah! It was never meant to be a listening experience. More like little snapshots as I learned to use new tools and sequencers. I think vol-2 is better musically but it's still just another bunch of crap demos that was never meant to be joined and played as a collection of music but I figured what the hell, I may just skip to vol-3.

I am no shit done with finding the stuff that works for me. I think I'm done making new software outside of the rare inspiration too. It's time to make some of the music I've always dreamed of making but you know how it is. You have to clean the kitchen before starting to prepare a new meal.

are you in for a synth funk cover for dacaumodo? :D

i'll have to look for all the words to 'i do like to be beside the seaside.' i wonder how it will sit without the shuffle.

Nope. It's red hot, aggressive blues from here on out. I haven't really found a musical home since I quit my band. At some point you have to pick a genre and work it until it's good. I'm too old to do nu-metal and I'd rather not play country but you can play the blues until you die in Texas.

I don't regret the last 10 years. Not only did I teach myself to build hardware and software instruments, it's almost been like learning to play and produce all over again. Much different from getting a few friends together and starting a band. Now that my mouth is almost fixed I'm starting to think about working up my vox chops and starting to play out again while I still can.

Nice, very good news. Get back up on that friggin' horse. My internet connection is acting a little flaky but eventually I'll nab all these tracks.

And, seriously, thanks for finally sharing. It's nice to know what people you talk to all the time are up to in their own musical worlds.

No.. Thank you for taking the time and at the very least pretending to be interested. It's getting to be a rare thing these days.

There's another 12 tracks in volume 2 and that's it. I put 'em up this morning and it did turn out a lot more musical. Short, sweet and done. :)

Every one of these "tunes" has been posted to KVR at some point over the last 2 1/2 years as a release demo or a demo for someone in a thread. I never put anything in the cafe' so it's kinda like I'm hiding my playing. It seems to me that I've been leaving a trail of musical crumbs and hints trying to get my head in the right direction. I can do a lot of stuff, go in a lot of directions but what do I want to do?

I can build a project studio and produce new talent but I'm not ready for that yet. I still look young enough to hide my age and play metal again if I wanted but I don't want. It's time to move on, it all seems a little comical looking back on my metal days. I'm not a real electronic musician/keyboardist but I can get in a serious blues bag and make it work pretty damn good when I set my mind to it. I really think I want to play music I enjoy for people again while I still can. I'd like to avoid musician "problems" and get some seasoned players that mostly work clean (weed and beer only) and see what's up. Texas is always ready to support a good player if I can get up for it.

No. They are still there. I've fixed the file names now that this is old enough to be ignored by the mp3 tracker. I also combined threads and listed vol-2 here.

Got em! I'll be back later to comment 8)
