Yes I wouldn't mind my entry being used, however unlikely that would be.

Any thoughts on dropping the 192kbps/quality level 6 limit?

wish you would leave it open to any thing

I think that limit was ancient, to allow the pathetic computers of 2002+ to perform as good as can be, and allow for poorer contestants with week computers to be on an equal basis, which is not needed anymore, as well to accomodate those still on dial-up (are there any out there using dial-up?_)

please open the bay doors Hal
or just limit the size to say 15 MB regardless of resolutions

al :P

I'm for keeping the 192 kbps limit. My broadband wifi connection breaks down periodically and then I'm on cellular Internet, it works pretty fast, in fact faster than the regular one, but transfer costs me arm and leg, in such case I wouldn't be eager to download hundreds of MB of flacs to vote on.

Post

My thought was just lifting the quality limit on mp3s and oggs. Still no flac or wav entries allowed. So maybe an extra MB or two per entry, which could still add up in transfer costs but not to flac levels.

PS-I'm still on dial-up.

You are still on dial-up? Golly where are you, Barrow Island Australia?

BTW how dod your extractions go? Fun eh?

Mine is still healing after 5 weeks, but is quite a bit attenuated pain wise

I'm in a suburb of Minneapolis. When I first moved here, high speed internet wasn't available. I think now it is, but last time I looked into it it was still too expensive.

The extractions: The big fun is still to come. Only the molar could come out. Under the molar was a cyst (which resisted novacaine, so I screamed a little when the tooth came out). Then I had to wait for pathology results (the cyst, although it complicates things, and is sort of disgusting to think about, isn't something to worry about, which was a relief to hear). Then between the oral surgeon moving offices and Thanksgiving week things got put on hold. I hope to get it figured out and get a surgery date soon. I'm in no pain now, but since I know I need to get it done I'd like to just get it over with.

Glad to hear your pain's not so bad.

I'm fine with my track being used. Not all that sure I'd be entering the comp though.

I would be up for it.
This space has been unintentionally left blank.

My entry for this month is up, and it will be available for use should we move forward with the idea for next month's contest.

I am not really interested in using other people's tracks to finish off or turn into full tracks - (unless I can use my own to finish). However if someone wants to use mine - they can. If you do use mine - it is 138bpm - "arrangement" is in lots of 8 or 16 bars, so it'll be very easy to turn into full track or to "chop" up and use the sections that you want.

I'm fine with my track being used in the next competition.
I would think doing a remix/not adding anything could also be an interesting way to go in the next competition.

:tu: ..and that's still small enough files for those without high speed internet

Submissions thread is locked, voting thread's up.

Next month:
This month you are asked to submit a new national anthem for a country real or imagined.

You must use:
A. At least one entry from the Developer Challenge
and
B. At least part of one (and only one) of the following full entries (no stems) from November's contest as a significant part of your submission.* You cannot use your own entry from November. Your submission post should mention which you used. What you use should remain generally identifiable in your submission (basically, don't mangle it beyond recognition; otherwise, do what you will).

*To answer the inevitable (and not unreasonable) question: just use your head and the honor system--ask yourself, Is it a significant part? If you can honestly answer yes, then you've probably got it right.
