My latest piece - I've been listening to a lot of early 90's IDM (yes I hate the word but I digress). Particularly Richard H.Kirk (ex Cabaret Voltaire), Beaumont Hannant and Rhythim is Rhythim and felt inspired to create this little melodic cacophony.
Predominantly hardware based - Monomachine, Analog 4, MS20, Microbrute, Juno 106 with the Roland Integra and Absynth thrown in for good measure.
Produced in Logic X.
Enjoy

I've always liked the "Braindance" term, but sadly it doesn't sound as official as IDM.
Liking the track. Cacophony levels aren't all that high, 3'50+ is very nice though.
First listen was subconscious, went down very smooth, only grabbed my attention near the end. But i'm used to listening to things in that vein.
Now on third listen, second was pleasant, many details to pick up on.
Mix sounds great. I like everything.
The unfiltered drill sound at 1:40 or so actually sounds a little forced to me. Like "o look it really is idm". But that's really nitpicky.

Nice one, I enjoyed it. You could bring back the snaredrills a tad, they really popped out. The track also seemed a bit louder in the 2nd more complex half at 3:40, but it didn't really hurt..

It hits the spot for me. It's less "jazzy" than the tracks on "Extinction", but no less entertaining or atmospheric.
Good work
