Late to the party as usual. I've only heard the clips Topaz posted. While I think a key/chord/whatever change is good it also comes across as lacking a bit of creativity. If something else happens ALONG with the chord change, yes that's cool, but if it only happens as Topaz showed that just seems a bit unimaginative to me.
When I hear I track that does that (it's common in Goa trance) I think it's just an excuse to have the same music going for another minute or 2. (No offence on Topaz, I know he was just making a point).
BUT if you at the same time eg. remove the kick or the 303 and add a string then it's cool. So in short, I'd rather have the music changing overall than just the chord. Having both is even better though.
Just my tuppence.

how could I possibly add anything ?
I only had the mp3 and simply pitch shifted the whole section about to show what I meant.
of course a new sound or lead line would lift it even more, adding these simple changes opens the track wide open for such things.

Aaaargh.....I tried to make it clear but it still got misunderstood.
I wasn't talking about your "version" of the track. I was talking about chord changes in general and giving Cypher One some ideas and just giving my general opinion regarding the subject.

On the other hand, OUR tune that we spent so long on, gets pretty much ignored.
What a weird old place this is.

I might have to try that myself.
I'm getting some inspiration now - hang on it's gone again.
Finished.
Should have it posted sometime later.

it wasn't a "version" of the track,
just an example of common progressions.
I just listened to your big beat tracks, very good stuff indeed great production man
but does exactly the same thing, all based around one root note.
bottom line is there are tons of tracks that do this
and there is nothing wrong with that of course, it was just my opinion.
