Cool. I'll keep an eye out for it.
Thanks.
Andrew
i was watching "the man whose arms exploded" on some channel. can't remember the channel though. some dude's supposed to get abandoned somewhere without anything and he's supposed to survive.
Oh, yeah. I watched that "the man whose arms exploded", too. Scary, stuff. That's what
steroids can do to ya. I was heavily into bodybuilding 15 years ago (even in a competition),
but I never once took steroids and never even considered it. Yep, on Survivorman, the host,
Les Stroud, gets dropped off in a remote place each episode and has to survive on his own
with practically nothing to start with--and for a week. Andrew

As you know, I do sound design
for others to use and my sounds are
re-used in various areas and I
rarely find out about it unless someone
tells me "hey, I used your sound" or
I happen to hear it used elsewhere.

Well, today I got an email from the guy
who did the audio for the new promos
for Survivorman which airs on TV on
Discovery Science:
http://science.discovery.com/convergenc ... orman.html
The sound designer told me
he really likes my sound design work and
used some of my sound design in a TV promo
for the show. I'm a fan and actually watch
this show regularly, so this has special meaning to me.
How cool is that?! I'll post a link to the promo
on my site if I get permission and
let you know. Wow, I am so thrilled
about this. Take care.
Andrew
If anybody hasn't seen the Survivorman promos
on TV and want to check one out, go to
http://andrew-duke.com and click on
"promo". It will take you to a page with
a QuickTime movie; wait till it has loaded fully
(30 seconds) and then hit the play button.
Take care.

The mnml.nl forum came up with the idea to do a production contest using
solely royalty-free samples created by lil' me--nothing else--to make a song.

The results are now in; a variety of styles, all top-quality:

original thread with the samples and submissions as they came in:
http://www.mnml.nl/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6802

page with the results listed individually in hi and lo fi mp3 format:
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemus ... dID=507522

podcast incorporating all of the results in a super tight mix:

In the delerium caused by being under the continuing spell of a wicked case of the flu virus, I
have just made some changes to the free downloads of royalty-free loops I have available:

They are now available as 24bit 48kHz or 16bit 44kHz files, plus the FXlimited zip has been
made re-available (now with more loops; and also as 24bit 48kHz or 16bit 48kHz files);
MMWCassignment1audio is 20 wav files ranging from percussion loops and bass and key
loops to field recording loops and fx loops and hits; MMWCassignment2audio is 30 field
recording and FX loops and hits; the MMWC zips are files I've made for the Making Music
With Computers course on sound design and production I teach at the Nova Scotia Community
College (Institute Of Technology) here in Halifax (http://andrew-duke.com/course.html if you're
interested in finding out more); the newly re-available FXlimited is now *65* field recordings and FX loops and hits. (Bought some extra server space, thus have room for these again). These are free to do with whatever you wish, just please let me know if you use 'em for anything.

If you like the above, please check out: Andrew Duke's Sonic Atmospheres 1
http://www.audiobase.com/product/SACR
This downloadable samplepack contains 606 files (450 loops plus 156 hits) of exclusive
FX material in your choice of AIFF or Apple Loops format (both at 24bit 48kHz).
You can save 25% on this download by plugging the coupon code
