The Incredible String Band released a couple of excellently weird albums in the sixties. In 1969 they played at Woodstock. Apparently a pretty mediocre performance. (One year previously they had started dabbling in Scientology. Coincidence, you say?) Their post-Woodstock albums were, um, "uneven". But I'll always have a soft spot for a band that tried to make the world a better place the only way they knew how - by writing songs about hedgehogs and amoebae.
A (Not) Very Cellular Song
The ISB original has about 8 sections and runs for nearly a quarter of an hour. I took the amoeba section and threw in a drunken pirate singalong. Yar.
(Used: Mysteron, z3ta, Crystal, GPO, Omnisynth, a tin whistle, my guitar and a mysterious gourd-like instrument I found at Oxfam but don't know the name of.)

Well, it took a while but I'm happy to once more partake in this contest. Here's my track. I've tried to give it a bit of a 'live' feel. I also wanted to give it more athmosphere using crowd samples but I couldn't really find the ones I wanted so just imagine that everyone in the crowd is silent because they're in awe of my band (either that, or they just didn't turn up... )

Been playing the latest Fire Emblem and absolutely *loving* the soundtrack, and reminding me how much I love game music. (Yeah, I've got several hundred game .mids -- especially that early Uematsu Final Fantasy stuff.) Since I never really got a grasp on the theme for this month, I just let my secret desire to be a game composer run wild for a couple hours.

I've been sitting on a rough mix of this for a week now, bit I finally had a bit of time to mix properly today.
A tune from one of the few artists from Woodstock I actually enjoy. It is also a song he never performed live, but maybe he would have if he were alive here in 2005.
Crosstown Traffic
Stuff used:
My Custom Shop Fender Strat, my Marshall JCM 800, my voice, a kazoo (also used on the original), BFD, Sonic Synth, Amplitube, and lots of UAD 1 plugs as always.
"Now that I'm here at Vurtstock, there's one thing I just gotta' say. What the F*** is a *Vurt*, anyway?"

I wasn't even born in '69 but wouldn't miss Vurtstock '05! Here's a piece for the late-night end-of-show drunks.
This is my first ever piece where I play piano, and the first (since our solo contest) where I am *not* playing guitar.
I Weep
Sequencer: Live 5.0.1
Piano: GPO Steinberg played on my classic Radium 49
Drums and cymbals: Live loops
Annoying panning synth bleeps: Reaktor 5 (Aerobik)
Bass: Wusik 2.0 w/UBK from Manytone (studio bass)
Vocal chords: Myself, with a sore throat
Lyrics
I Weep
Feel me. Feel this. Our lives
Are not like fish in bowls.
We love. We weep. We try
To keep the poison from our souls.
"Come here," she said, and I complied
With wings that only wanted to fly.
./. I weep ./.
She touched me with butterfly care
Pretending there was something there
To see, to hear, to touch, to sense
To fly, to kill, and then dispense
(As if there is some evidence!)
./. I Weep ./.

Bit of a departure from the house style here... I present:
That Vurty Feeling
Sort of a nod to the Doors/Arthur Brown/Grateful Dead/Serge Gainsbourg/Spiritualised and Stereolab.
Featuring BFD, Minimonsta,Bela D Media's Studio B Electric Guitar, and my very own dulcet tones

Haven't entered a contest in quite a while, but here it goes anyhow.
Stop Listen
Logic 7.1
Mtron
Tritone Digital Phasetone, Hydratone, and Valvetone
Guitar Amp Pro
PSP Vintage Warmer
Numerous Logic Effects
Lyrics:
I've had enough of the standard
It's just not good anymore
whatever happened to the magic
that used to flow to my head
I guess it's a matter of taste
but this doesn't taste so well
that little bit of something else
is everything that I want, just
Just stop, listen, forget about what you've heard
It's unsensical, unmusical and no one even knows
Just stop, listen, forget about what you've heard
--------------
Thanks All

I don't partake of the herb, but I did record most of this under the influence of tequila and pancakes.
Sax, Dub, Understanding
Dodgy tuning and all: didn't have the time to rehearse, didn't have the heart to auto-tune. I figure that vurt doesn't worry about bad notes, and that's not a bad thing after all.

(And no, I don't honestly care if it's really dub or not.)
