yes, and on Mac "Command + V" doesn't work, so add a right click -> select "Paste" to that process.
Tedious with big batches of presets, much easier to trade zip files.

Thanks a lot!

And thanks to all posters of presets as well! :tu:

Cheers,

Tom

P.S. I'm on Windows 8.1 if that makes a difference.
+1

I'm on a Macbook Pro running Yosemite, if that makes a difference. :)

Since there are no presets in this thread which use the newer “smooth random” algorithm, let me start up with a couple.

Small drum room reverb:

Code: Select all

<ValhallaVintageVerb

Some Lexicon 224xl presets would be awesome!

Post

I am a bit late to the party, however.

Lexicon 480L Large Hall:
<ValhallaVintageVerb pluginVersion="1.5.0" presetName="Den 480 Large Hall" Mix="1" PreDelay="0.2553087770938873291" Decay="0.36199998855590820312" Size="0.60000002384185791016" Attack="0.20000000298023223877" BassMult="0.62400001287460327148" BassXover="0.41699999570846557617" HighShelf="0.5" HighFreq="0.42500001192092895508" EarlyDiffusion="0.65200001001358032227" LateDiffusion="0.65200001001358032227" ModRate="0.55400002002716064453" ModDepth="0.80000001192092895508" HighCut="0.52600002288818359375" LowCut="0" ColorMode="0.6666666865348815918" ReverbMode="0.20833332836627960205"/>

Here’s a nice little Snare drum thickener using the “Smooth Random” algorithm; there is almost no decay; we use the early reflections of the Smooth Random algorithm to make a snare drum sound thicker:

<ValhallaVintageVerb pluginVersion="1.5.0" presetName="Thick Snare" Mix="1" PreDelay="0"
Decay="0.14399999380111694" Size="0.11999999731779099" Attack="0"
BassMult="0.56800001859664917" BassXover="0.37200000882148743"
HighShelf="0.7279999852180481" HighFreq="0.46399998664855957"
EarlyDiffusion="1" LateDiffusion="1" ModRate="1" ModDepth="0"
HighCut="1" LowCut="0" ColorMode="0.77777779102325439" ReverbMode="0.58333331346511841"/>

Note that, if the early reflections ring with a particular snare drum sound, slightly adjust the size (Try and keep the size small: anything above 14% size can ring pretty badly), or decrease the early diffusion. A very slight amount of modulation can give the sound movement, but, with this preset, a little modulation goes a long way — I prefer not to use modulation.

One sound that is somewhat tricky to sound good using VVV’s “Smooth Random” algorithm is a handclap from my Korg ER-1 (I think it’s a sample of a 909 clap). The reverb either sounds metallic, or fluttery (a lot of discrete “flutter” echos). This is the best I have done at getting a 909-style clap to not sound metallic or like flutters:

<ValhallaVintageVerb pluginVersion="1.5.0" presetName="Thick clap" Mix="1" PreDelay="0"
Decay="0.21600000560283661" Size="0.23199999332427979" Attack="0"
BassMult="0.48399999737739563" BassXover="0.36399999260902405"
HighShelf="0.6119999885559082" HighFreq="0.48800000548362732"
EarlyDiffusion="0.69199997186660767" LateDiffusion="0" ModRate="1"
ModDepth="0" HighCut="0.28799998760223389" LowCut="0.60000002384185791"
ColorMode="0.66666668653488159" ReverbMode="0.58333331346511841"/>

Any tips on recreating the Lexicon 224XL Rich Plate? Smooth Plate in 80s mode? Any other parameters?

Post

I don’t think an exact recreation is possible.

Smooth Plate is somewhat like the 224XL “Rich Plate”, as Sean details at https://www.gearslutz.com/board/10627371-post3.html but with some differences.

Dirty Plate is the 224XL Plate, but there are five different Plate algorithms in the 224XL (Plate, Small Plate, Constant Density Plate A, Constant Density Plate B, Rich Plate), so this won’t give quite the same sound (The 224XL also had three halls, two rooms, three chambers, a non-linear mode, as well as some split reverbs and some non-reverb effects. The 480L had far fewer reverb algorithms: Hall, Room, Plate, Random Hall, and Ambience)

Would anyone know what VVV type (or any other tips) would be best used to get close in emulating the Eventide 2016 Stereo Room? :love:
