Once again, we have requisitioned an ageing relic which we have re-fashioned for our purposes.
This time, from a 1950s of the future where science fiction and science fact were somewhat blurred ... a portable communications device intended for an over-ambitious and abandoned manned mission to Mars...
With two oscillators offering a wide variety of true analogue, ring modulated waveforms which can be tuned and mixed, modulated further by a multi-wave LFO and envelope as well as FM and AM modulated, there's a broad palette of sounds to play with and mix and match before these pass to an ADSR envelope and an array of speaker simulations and lo/hi cut filters to create a wider range of antiquated, retro sci-fi sounds that could have originated in an old black and white B-movie or the early experimental electronic music studios of Europe.
These then pass to a comprehensive chain of effects comprising distortion, chorus, phase shifting, echo and a convolution reverb featuring a wide range of impulses.
Furthermore, touch the 'scope/sonar/radar in the centre of the panel and Altaerion will come up with a randomly generated sound for you. Not just that but touch it in the effects page and it will generate a new effects configuration at random. Between them, Altaerion will create good starting points for you to tweak and take you in creative directions you might not have thought of. All good fun!
Altaerion is available now for £10

Nice. The MLM series keeps growing. Growing into an "MLM Suite Part Deux" perhaps?

Just gorgeous !
Both the graphics (love it !) and the weird sounds you can get out of this !
(not to forget the scripting behind it... !)
The random function is just sick - I came up with 10 new variations of useful
(well, kinda...) sounds within just 5 minutes...just plain fun.
Sorry, just have to mention it - I really love this MLM thing...
Cheers

Just beautiful, as always with the MLM interfaces, Stephen!
You might want to check your web site, however. You've got the main panel showing twice. I assume the second slot was to show the effects panel.

Hollowsun Altaerion
Bought it!
I like unusual Instruments very much.
This should be precious & perfectly apt for making Ambient music.
Thanks a lot Hollowsun!

So far I don't have a concrete use for all these wonderful music laboratory machines since I make pop-like songs. Yet these wannahave gadgets are so tempting with their great UI's and retro scifi sounds. It makes me want to endlessly fiddle with them in the dark and silent moments of the night.
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

There's your problem right there!Timfonie wrote:since I make pop-like songs.
Mind you, nothing stopping you using them in pop songs. As one customer commented on other MLMs - they're good for injecting a "WTF was that" sound/effect into a song.
Do it - you know it makes sense.Timfonie wrote:Yet these wannahave gadgets are so tempting with their great UI's and retro scifi sounds. It makes me want to endlessly fiddle with them in the dark and silent moments of the night.
Actually, even if it makes no sense at all, do it anyway - it's great fun!

Although I'd spell 'deux' correctly!

None of Reason's samplers offer scripting, so... porting to Reason won't happen. Plus, I don't own the software, and it's a bit too expensive to purchase it for something I won't use actively.

Whoops, my mistake. Most of the MLMs have an effects panel layout that's distictly different from the main panel. In Altaerion, both panels have a very similar look. I just didn't examinine them very closely. Sorry for the false alarm.hollowsun wrote:Eh? I see the main panel and the FX panel here.
