whatever happened to mini-spillage pro? I pre-ordered it in May and it's still not done 8 months later (pre-orders were supposed to get regular email updates).

Hi Michael,

Sorry about the delays. MiniSpillage Pro was renamed MiniSpillage 2. Same software different name.

http://www.audiospillage.com/minispillage2.html

We are finishing the last round of beta testing and will be releasing the plugin this month!

Again, apologies for the delays we believe it will be worth the wait though.

Thanks for your support,

Uhhh.... 1 more day.

I'm just anxious is all. Do you still plan to have an upgrade path from MiniSpillage 2 to Drum Spillage 2 or have they diverged enough now that it doesn't make sense?

It's so close you can almost hear it. Seriously though, these slipping deadlines are an absolute disgrace. In the mean time we posted a few preview images on our FB page:

MiniSpillage 2 Preview

Despite the long, long wait, I hope you'll all like it a lot once it arrives.

They will converge so the upgrade path will still be on.

I'm wishing I'd never bothered to pre-register. Everything else I tried to write was deemed as appearing to be spam....

Hi Rob,

I do understand your frustration regarding the delays with the software. I've personally responded to every enquiry we've received so I'm not sure I understand what you mean by spam. Perhaps some support mails from you have gone astray?

It was the forum rules kicking in and not let me vent my feelings. Doing their job and probably very wisely.
Maybe a few more posts from you about the delay would've helped though.

good point. i'm going to give it another week and then ask for my cash back. this isn't cool and I let it slide because it was only like $25, but you're right. it's been almost a year now.

Pre-order customers will receive the plugin on Monday. Hopefully this will help dispel any rumours of us taking the money and running off to Bermuda. To be fair it has been a very very long wait.

A quick recap on some of the features in MS2:

+ High quality interpolation/oversampling in the sample playback engine reduces distortion and aliasing noise when pitching samples around.

+ 1 sample playback slot and 1 drum synth model available for each drum pad simultaneously. Allows for layering of synthetic and sample sounds.

+ Samples can be pitch modulated via both LFO and pitch envelope. Samples can be looped (forward and alternated forwards/reverse looping available).

+ Sequencer patterns are playable via MIDI (they respond to note on/note off messages) with looping and one-shot modes available. May be triggered live from a MIDI drum pad device or sequenced from within the DAW.

+ Sequencer track lengths can be set independently of each other. Also known as a 'poly-rhythmic' sequencer in some circles.

+ LFOs, envelopes, oscillators and noise generators are of better quality than the original MiniSpillage.

+ New distortion/shaper algorithms licensed from a 3rd party plugin developer (more info about these upon release).

+ Groove quantize modelled on the Akai MPC (more styles will likely be added in the future)

+ Resolution independent sequencer (most step-sequencers we've seen simply play a pattern faster when set to 32nd notes if the original pattern was programmed with 16th notes). The sequencer in MS2 will zoom into the pattern. Maximum note resolution 32nd note. Does anyone out there need 64th or 128th note resolution?

+ Choke groups, multiple outputs, LFO tempo sync and note on sync.

+ Real-time normalize function for the samples (OK, not a game changer but quite useful).

It definitely exists and all in all it's not bad for $25. Shame about the wait...

Best regards,
