Hello!
I don't think this is a Strum Maker IV question, but I'm hoping someone can help me with this minor problem.
Whenever I play my midi controller [even if I just press one key on the keyboard], the volume level on the Kontakt 5 program defaults to zero; no volume whatsoever. I am unable to hear anything. So I have to keep increasing the volume and 'hope' that it stays put when I press a key. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Enter instrument edit mode, then click on Instrument Options and go to Controllers page. Disable receiving MIDI CCs for volume and pan. Save the NKI.

Footnote: While the NKI was saving, the files were 'compressing and writing,' and I assumed that was supposed to happen. So I closed the program and opened it again, no problems. Good as new.
