I like your logical choice in progression of steps.....step one = first step.
Brilliant! Always thinking aren't ya!
(Actually I wouldn't install the MOBO until the CPU and heatsink, ram, GPU, etc. have been put into place on the MOBO. But then, what do I know )
Good luck with the build! I really hope everything works out well for you.
Happy Musiking!

It's those things I don't remember. This will be my 4th I believe and I've had good success but I really don't remember what I did with the others I know the last one I put together was a snap. But I can't remember what I did.dsan@mail.com wrote:I like your logical choice in progression of steps.....step one = first step.

There's a lot of instruction on the innernetz so if you are unsure you may want to consider some brush ups as first step. I'm confident as you go along it will come back to you.
So much has changed though since I built my last about 3 years ago. It's a bit intimidating with the new technology, not so much plugging in things but settings....like another in this thread that mentioned about ACHI settings before adding the OS. Great advice that one would not know otherwise.
Lot of good reading in this thread.

Thanks.
I found this, seems nice and straight forward.

That's what I really needed, was just a refresher of what to do first. Makes sense.....put the stuff on, put the board in......very logical. Except I have the wrist band. I wish it wasn't so damn cold/dry

Over-provisioning isn't necessary, it's just recommended.
Did you remember to order a CPU cooler? A lot of the new-fangled high-power CPUs don't come with stock fans any more

A phanteks. Not the really expensive one but a good one. MANY fans seem to be a big question mark as to compatibility This was listed at 1150 compatibility. Hope it works.Gonga wrote:Over-provisioning isn't necessary, it's just recommended.

Everything is what I asked for.

Of COURSE it doesn't work
I know what it is too. I don't have the little front panel thingies hooked up right. It doesn't have most of what I'm used to. Now I'll have to pay fry's to troubleshoot it.

"on on the 7th day, god created "fry's electronics......"
So, for 17.50, they helped me trouble shoot. I had the power controllers in wrong
BUT I may have a mobo problem. Either I've read the configurations wrong or there are two slots that don't work for the ram.
I'm done for a while Tomorrow is another day to trouble shoot.

OS going in. I'll play around with it before I auth anything. If shit is just flyin' around like it should I'll likely take a chance. If it's meh, then I'll just wait and send it back.
PITA: Note: DON'T BY THE MOBO ONLINE if you can get one in a store!

Wow, hit the power button, wait a couple of seconds, and type in your password
I think it took less than 15 minutes to install the OS, of course waiting for all the updates to DL/install is always painful.
Once all that garbage is installed, I do magician then I think I'll be done for the day

Good luck bro. When it's all done, I hope she purrs like a kitten. I just re-did my music rig with Windows 7 (not as big a fan of Win8 anymore) and am very pleased here.

Some crap got installed that I don't want somehow. Might have to do a fresh install.
The SSD is fast, I'll test S1 and komplete today later. That will be the test!
