looks like the Haswell i7 quad-cores are priced $300 to $340 (for the 4ghz 4790 model) with the entry level Haswell 6-core i7 3.3ghz (the 5820) running @ $400.
worth going 20% more dollar for 50% more cpu "cores" ?

Have a look into mobos and see which of those chips uses the best chipset board. When I built this, there were issues with the chipset for the 6 core chip so I opted for the 4 core (with hyperthreading) 4770 because that z87 wasn't giving people grief. Doesn't mean anything in stone but I have a tendency to go with mob rules for this kinda stuff.
