Gamechanger - New AMD CPUs

When will AMD chips ever be marketed differently? They're always marketed as being more bang for the buck. The reality is that they're less. And please, don't come with manufacturer benchmarks now. DirectX12 was also supposed to be up to 100% more performant than DirectX11. I checked it in a game the other day, and had 1 frame more. I don't know if gamechanger is the correct term to use, because it seems to me that AMD is just catching up, but at a more affordable price. However, Intel having competition is always good, as this should help to lower prices and bring some real innovation.

PC builders are those who will get into it first I guess.
So it could be a gamechanger for the Linux crowd.

No, but everyone reports about the new "gamechanger" AMD CPU's. I'm not blaming anyone for just repeating that. The problem is, if you don't call it gamechanger, noone will get a boner. So everything has to be a gamechanger these days. Not sure what the next thing will be. Maybe worldchanger. After that, galaxychanger. Then, universechanger. Then a black hole will appear and eat us all. Or so.egbert101 wrote:Calling me fake news?chk071 wrote:I have that feeling too.Elektronisch wrote:people saying gamechanger just to talkNumanoid wrote:Gamechanger...

Will only a low cost high spec CPU create a change in the game?egbert101 wrote:Calling me fake news?
What about the other periferals that are needed to make a compuer to run, like RAM and storage, etc.
I mean with this AMD processor do you still need 16GB of RAM or can you cut back to 8GB

Replace that with graphics cards, and, yep, you got it... The CPU's were ok though... even though the system requirements of games always said "Pentium II 300 MHz, or AMD Athlon 600 MHz required".rasmusklump wrote:The only PCs I had lots of trouble with, where ones with AMD CPUs.
