Hello hello,
I was just wondering if anyone ou there has an Ensoniq ESQ1 or SQ80 and would be willing to sample the waveforms for me. I had one and sold it (foolishly) and miss those dirty sounds.
If you're willing please PM me.
Thank you very much,
Pete

I downloaded the SQ80 waveforms awhile back from a link on kvr. They are directly ripped from the ROM, so they are exactly what the SQ80 plays. But mapping them is a bit confusing - I don't really understand the keyranges.
Anyway, maybe you can make better sense of it - if you can let me know.

Really the SQ80 is one the few H/W synths I'd actually like to see emulated as a VSTi .kippertoffee wrote:Hello hello,

Right down to the insanely good mod matrix the oscillators , filters and all the aliasing ,noise and artifacts ..........
All these hardware threads are making feel nostalgic

I still have an ESQ-1. I tried sampling it and was very disapointed in the results. The original waveforms and output are pretty rough. That gave me the idea to start a thread asking if any developers would like to try creating an ESQ-1/SQ80 emulation. Mike from ReFx was working with EMU who took over from Ensoniq but I don't know if the project ever got past the planiing stage. I still think an SQ80 emulation with modern 16 or 24 bit wavs would be a killer synth.
I'd sell you my ESQ-1 but the shipping charges would probably be way too high.

Hi, everyone!
I'm new here, and I have to say, I should have registered earlier. Great stuff here!
I love the SQ80 and the ESQ-1. And I bought a SQ80 because I totally fell in love with the sounds I heard in the german "KEYS" magazine, issue 08/2000, when they wrote about the machine in a vintage corner. I never managed to find those sounds, or reprogram them.
Does anyone of you by coincidence know, which sounds were used for this article? I would die for that information. So please, if anyone of you knows what I'm talking about, let me know, please. I'd be tremendously grateful.
Once again hello, and thanks to all of you!

All the Ensoniq stuff rocked. I had a Mirage and an ESQ-1 that I sold a long time ago. But my main Keyboard is a KS-32. I also have an ASR-10 Rack that, unfortunately gets little use today.

That SQ8L Plugin actually comes really close to the original hardware synth

Thanks for the replies, Standalone.
Yes, I know the article, but I wondered, if anyone of you actually KNOW what sounds there are used in the audio demo, that comes with the article. They are phenomenal!!
Please, if anyone knows the patches!

Hey everyone,
someone searched for the raw waveforms years ago.
Here they are, read directly out of the ROM and converted to aif.
