Although TAL-U-No-LX is modelled on the Juno-60, not the Juno-106, I figured that the two synths are similar enough that it would be possible to recreate the Juno-106 factory banks as U-No-LX presets. So, as a way to get to know TAL-U-No-LX better I have emulated Factory Bank A from the Juno-106. The Orion 106 soundset on the TAL website includes a handful of patches from the Juno-106 factory banks, but I am not aware of anyone having emulated all of the presets before, so hopefully I didn’t just waste a huge amount of my time…

I could not find official Roland patch sheets for the Juno-106 factory banks but thankfully I found some user-created 106 banks which provided an excellent starting point: the Juno-106 Librarian factory bank (http://www.jarvik7.net/juno-106/), and some user-created JU-06 presets (https://www.reddit.com/r/synthesizers/c ... 6_patches/), which themselves are derived from the Librarian presets. Many thanks to the authors of those soundsets.

The presets have been further fine tuned by ear using the SynthMania Juno-106 demonstration as a reference (http://www.synthmania.com/juno-106.htm). The audio demos included with this soundset emulate the SynthMania demos. Many thanks to Paolo Di Nicolantonio for creating such a wonderful resource.

Subtle differences between the 60/TAL-U-No-LX and the 106, and the fact that I don't own a Juno-106 to compare against made it difficult to perfectly reproduce some patches, but I think that most of them sound very close. The only total dud is “A78 Wah Release” - I want to murder whoever designed that preset! If anyone out there owns a Juno-106 and wants to have a crack at improving my presets to accurately match the real thing, that would be great!

This was a fascinating exercise for me, and has given me a huge appreciation for the power and simplicity of the Juno-60 and Juno-106. I hope that someone else finds this soundset useful.

Wow !

An excellent work !

I imagine the blast you've got all the weeks you spent to make these superb presets and A/B compare it with your audio sources !

Have you used an oscilloscope in addition to your ears ? There are some which are free, like the excellent https://www.kvraudio.com/product/moscil ... production included in the MFreeEffectsBundle.

Thanks mate, but it seems that the file for the soundset is gone.

Please verify if possible.

Thanks @waltercruz for updating this thread with a working link. Dropbox switched off their public filesharing feature a while ago and the link went bye-bye.
