As in "playing" a choir.

VocaLive has choir FX and is Audiobus capable to boot. http://www.ikmultimedia.com/vocalive - Edit though I must not have enough coffee because I may have misinterpreted "playing" a choir (you can set key, etc I now see that may not be what you were looking for, even if you can make changes, etc and "play" it, sorry if that's the case).

What a great point and idea. Perhaps that will be one of my next projects. A choir app.BMoore wrote:Anyone found any good choir apps?

I know of no actual choir Synths, but there are many singing apps and even some formant synths.
Ivoxel, harmony voice, voice synth, improvox, vocalive, etc.

Yeah. There's not a lot of choir apps around.Karmacomposer wrote:What a great point and idea. Perhaps that will be one of my next projects. A choir app.BMoore wrote:Anyone found any good choir apps?

I've got Voice Synth, but I use it to process drums.

+1 on the choirs in Thor.
Very nice sounding, and a selection of male and female versions.
I'm hoping Garritan gets involved in app creation because they have some wonderful libraries.

I've got Thor, but no.
(Or, please do provide examples)
Maybe I need to clarify. I'm looking for a dedicated choir app. Or one with a really good choir section.
No fx, formants, or vocal processing apps.

This would be my suggestion as well. You also might try the vocal IAP for Alchemy as well.Crabshack wrote:BS 16i plus a bunch of carefully selected soundfonts?
Another thought that may give you much more control:
Take Crabshack's advice and get the BS-16i and use some choir soundfonts, but also route the output from the BS-16i into Improvox as an effect. This should give you a great deal of harmonic control over your choir's sound.

Alchemy Mobile and the Dream Voices pack (plus a few factory presets I think) is probably the best you'll be able to get on iOS. Unless you have a sample library that you can import to your iDevice (if so I'd suggest Thumbjam as sampler since it is the most versatile and expressive instrument/midi controller on the AppStore).

---I love Sampletank (I've got the computer version also) but I wish it afforded us more editing capabilities on the iPad.
Choir beauty is in the ear of the beholder, I've tried several and to my ears none were that great but I'm picky. Someone needs to develop a dedicated choir app with the ability to control the parameters and core midi control. In my band we do a lot of songs with pretty neat harmonies and I use a TC Electronics Harmony M so I can control the pitch via midi. Work really great and the Moody Blues live again!! LOL
