not going to happen. That requires all customers to have a smartphone to run the app. I know ppl who dont have a mobile phone, let alone a smartphone. You cannot force ppl to do that. Some customers may get cheaper insurance if they take that option, but then again, ppl who say they only do 500 miles a years when infact they do 5000 will get caught out...so i think it will remain voluntarytehlord wrote:You people need to start joining the dots.
In the UK, insurance companies are starting to use mobile phones to track car journeys as a voluntary way to reduce premiums for careful driving. You can put money on this being mandatory at some point in the future.
regarding the contacless option, thats for a max value of £20 per transaction.tehlord wrote:

Wtf is wrong with you all lol... First, new tech requires that people share certain things for it all to work and grow. That said, Apple is probably company nr uno when it comes to protecting people's privacy and information, but still do their best to engineer and evolve technology, and is in the forefront in that department. Take SIRI, it simply cannot evolve to what will eventually be a pretty efficient A.I without collecting (anonymous) data from people using it. Don't turn it off, no apple employee or NSA dude is gonna listen to your recordings). The fingerprint thing? If you turn it off IT IS OFF. You have full control of what your iDevice sends out, wether it be location or your fingerprint. Remove your tinfoil hats, and help technology evolve (no it really doesn't invade your privacy and send your whereabouts to the CIA, or the spaceships currently orbiting earth).

In the Android we are at least informed of the Permissions required by the applications.chris1a wrote:Wtf is wrong with you all lol... iOS apps are not allowed, and cannot access or alter anything outside their sandbox without permission. That would include things like, GPS, contacts, photo library, well anything really. In the Android we are at least informed of the Permissions required by the applications.

By that logic the USA government is a terrace because they are always hiding shit, and it's really disturbing shit when the lid gets blown. The "if you've got nothing to hide..." rhetoric is weak and double standardy. It's that kind of logic that leads to 1984. Imagine how easy it would be to set someone up with an electronic system like that. Who'se to know? If it goes ahead you can expect to see lawful protesters getting torpedoed left right and centre.Aural Chaos wrote:Why should I care if the NSA spies on all my email and phone calls, I'm not a terrorist....BiancaNeve wrote:Even if they do , which they say they won't
And even if they then share them with authorities which they say won't happen
It still won't matter unless your fingerprints are found someplace where they shouldn't be which of course they never would be
So whats the worry?
And this whole "conspiracy" and "tinfoil hat" spiel is obvious manipulation. Associate dumb conspiracies with real ones and people will avoid talking about them altogether for fear of looking foolish. People are terrified of many things - seeming boring and seeming foolish are biggies (a lot of adverts work on this fact on a subliminal level. When you analyze them this way they really can seem quite repulsive and parasitic).

Not according to a "court order" ,IIRC, about asking Apple for implementing more privacy for the user for the above reason.chris1a wrote:iOS apps are not allowed, and cannot access or alter anything outside their sandbox without permission. I don't really care about some old "court order". And, perhaps you should own the product in question before making assumptions about this and that based on something you've read on some tech blog, eh? I'm just saying. No offense.

Of course, don't question the government, or the corporations they collect data from. They have nothing but the purist intent. Anyone that questions it is an unpatriotic looney!

I believe that it took over a year after Steve Jobs passed away for Apple to partner with the NSA but they have. This is a seriously interesting point.V0RT3X wrote:

This is what's going on in the world.
That's what happens when you really Think Different.
War?
If I own things....
You can do better than that.
Btw, try to use the Finger Print thing in an Emergency situation, especially if someone else needs to do it for you....
Idiotic implementation IMO.
