Can anyone advise what the latest is on PDF sheet music reading apps for Android?
They used to be non-existent pretty much and I was wondering if this has changed at all?
Thanks

Not used it myself, but you're looking for http://www.zubersoft.com/mobilesheets/about.html .
I was investigating this too, but I'm going the iPad route, because of the 4:3 screen. There are some 4:3 androids, but they are mostly the cheaper (and/) or chinese models. I need it professionally on stage, so it has to be really reliable. I wouldn't care if it crashes when I am couch-browsing, but if I am on stage on a big show... it just needs to work.

Thanks - I have just ditched my iPad (together with the iPhone) as I finally got tired of the Apple way of doing things. So this is why I am looking at the Android - I will check out that app though.
Apparently Music Reader (Windows) is to release an Android version, but they say it is some months off yet...

This one came recently and am not sure if it can read PDF files but as it can save to PDF it would be strange if it couldn't... Guess you can email the developer and ask.
In either case if you write your own scores it looks pretty amazing.

The app I mentioned is an Android app, seems pretty full featured.miden wrote:Thanks - I have just ditched my iPad (together with the iPhone) as I finally got tired of the Apple way of doing things. So this is why I am looking at the Android - I will check out that app though.

This just came out and looks good. They do not say if it reads PDF bu tit is for free so guess it just to try it out. Like that if you can use a OTG USB cable on your device you can connect a pedal and do page turning with your foot!
That would be very exciting for me if I played music from scores for sure.

I am using songReader from android market. see https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... songreader (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.volsa.songreader). And here is video how to work with application http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgAOFMBPafEIt is quite simple to create own song from existing book using build in camera. YOu have to say how to slice song to rows and after that application automaticaly scroll all lines from begining to end.

I have understood that different musicians have vastly different needs and wishes when it comes to music reader apps -- no-one-fits-all...
However, when it comes to usefulness (esp for playing live) and bang for the buck, it is hard to beat The Fakebook. Actually I don't think there's anything close even on iOS.
It has something like a thousand jazz standards built in, access iReal Pro forums to download hundreds and thousands of songs in other styles, transposes these if needed, links to YouTube and Spotify.
But, most importantly, it imports PDF pretty well. Single pages is no problems at all, and for large collections it has some kind of script that will split a book so that each song gets its own entry. Pretty cool actually.
It also handles some other formats (abc? Chordpro), but I have not tried these myself.
Bought it for $1.50 some month ago (on Google Play http://play.google.com/store/apps/detai ... ok.android ), and used it all the time even since.
Let me know what you think!
