No split is available

It could be better, but the impression I get form IK is that it is not to be upgraded any time soon. Does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative app (multi instrument) that DOES allow split points to be used?

SampleTank iOS will let you assign each of the 4 parts to their own MIDI channel. So typically you would set your controller to transmit on 2-4 channels in the zones you want, and there you have it.

Thanks Peter - yeah I knew that, but I was thinking more of a keyboard that only transmits on one channel - viz the Studiologic Controllers for example.

While you here, is there any way to load in different drum loops, or record your own for use in ST?

One SERIOUS issue with SampleTank for iPad....
