Studio One Pro 3.2.0 not launching Rapid Composer 2.9 as VST instrument.
Ableton Live Suite 9.6 not launching Rapid Composer 2.9 as VST instrument.
Cubase Pro 8.5.15 not launching Rapid Composer 2.9 as VST instrument.

It seems the RC VST plug-in is not able to find the application that it should launch.
Can you check the contents of ~/Documents/RapidComposerV2/SettingsV2/VSTLastAppPath.txt?
It should point to the RapidComposer.app that the plug-in uses.

Please run the standalone version and click on the Settings / Locations tab, and check the setting "Application used by the RapidComposer VST plug-in".
"Use this application" should be set.

If you are using OS X 10.11 that could be a problem, because v2.9 has a few issues on 10.11.
Please use the latest demo version which works well on OS X 10.11:

Checked the txt file and it pointed to the app [/Applications/RapidComposer.app] as decribed.

When launching Rapid Composer stand alone, I got a message saying:
Error #2 during setting up the VST bridge.
Please kill all hanging applications and restart RapidComposer.

I'll go ahead and use the demo version as directed.

Yes, I remember the bridge between the RC VST plug-in and standalone stopped working in OS X 10.11. It worked well until 10.10 but Apple changed something that broke it and it had to be implemented again. (v2.9 was released before OS X 10.11)

You get the "error setting up VST bridge" message because of this. The other reason you can see this message if an earlier instance of RapidComposer is still running in the background. In this case you should force quit the RapidComposer in the activity monitor.

When recording MIDI directly into RC (VST), there is no delay compensation so all notes are recorded early. It's very noticeable with high buffer sizes. Playback can be compensated with the delay modifier, but the notes are still misplaced within the phrase itself.

A minor, related feature request re recording directly would be for the selected track to dictate what channel incoming MIDI is output on. If a MIDI controller keyboard/thing outputs only on channel 1, it's possible to record on any selected track, but it's not possible to monitor the correct channel using only RC.

Oh, and articulations on the track still don't do anything. Actually, with respect to monitoring live input it would be good if articulations were sent when they were selected with the dropdown menu and not just on playback.

Hi,
I cannot get the 1st chord of the 1st Phrase to play when looped.
I use RC as VST inside Sonar Platinum. Also I couldn’t 1st chord
to play when looped in stand along mode. Say I have a 4 bars
C on bar 1, F on bar 2, G on bar 3 , and A on bar 4. I hit play all chords play correctly.
When I loop the 4 bars and hit play all chords play correctly. But started on the 2nd pass
It will not play C on the 1st bar it drops it for some reason. Tell what I’m doing wrong. Is this a bug?

Thank you, Darrell, I'll check this issue shortly. What was the tempo that you were using? It is important because I can imagine that a calculation is not precise. I have tried to reproduce this using several tempo values without success. If you could send me the composition file, that would be the quickest fix.

Hi,
i didn't tried this... until i saw Forrestlong's post about UI scaling in Feature Request a few minutes ago,
seems new resize area at bottom right has strange behavior..
its allow to resize to second monitor but when you click to one of the sizes ( to resize again in old way) RC shrink to max resolution (in my case 1920 wide)...
more details:
if i click to right size RC shrink to left monitor... if i click to left size RC shrink & goes to the right monitor.

not a big problem but i want to report just in case.

I have a problem with the demo crashing.
I have tried both the 64- and 32-bit versions.
I'm on a Windows 10 x64.

Are there any log-files?

The symptom is just this:

As promised, I got a clean OS install on my laptop, legit Windows 10 6 bit. RC still crashes occasionally, but not as often as before. I suspect some VSTs contribute to the instability; at least Z3TA+2 and Korg Legacy Cell both instantly crashed my RC.

A song on which I was working yesterday was purring along for hours, and then suddenly crashed. I cannot re-open it, and I cannot open any of the song's recent history files either.

Is there anything I can do to recover the composition? Given the fact that we can hardly expect you (Attila) to fix all crashes related to 3d party VST compatibility, perhaps it's an idea to allow .rcCOMP files to be loaded in a "safe mode", where only the phrases are loaded without the associated VST's? I strongly suspect I'm locked out of the file because of a VST issue.
