Hi Yellukhan,

thank you for your tricks/lessons!!!!!
Can you please show us how you do to convert midi chords from dancemidisamples to RC progression?
Again thank you!!

Post

Hi tanislas,

you can do this directly importing them via MIDI Import Page,
just remember to un select
"Create Structure" and "CONVERT" boxes.

but! ...
first i have to confess i am a bit (probably unnecessarily) control freak in this case...
i want chords imported as they are "as possible"
because this packages has a lot of chords that doesn't fit to Triads...
...
as a Reaper user i found this steps below very helpful

1- find Scales of all progressions one by one...
i am using Reaper's Scale Finder with this wonderful scale set:
(ZD-Ultimate.reascale)
http://forum.cockos.com/showpost.php?p= ... stcount=20
and i put defined scales to the midi file Names as a Tag

2- this scales used as Master Track Scale of RC when i import that midi files... one by one ...
+choose the scale
+drag midi to track (RC track/ Instrument: General Midi....because of step 4 below )
+Right click to phrase to open Phrase Inspector click to wheel icon "Show Object Actions" tab...
see there "Convert To Relative Form"
be sure "Chord Notes [+Scale Steps]" selected in the "Mapping" list
Activate "Replace Master Track Chords"
and click to "Convert To Relative Form"

3-now delete the phrase in the track and drag the original one again because we need Absolute form to see original chords
(converting phrase to "Absolute Notes" from the Phrase Inspector / "Show Object Actions" tab ...might also work...
but ...i think being a control freak doesn't let me in this case... :clown: )

4- time for the checking /entering exact (as possible) chords if needed.
i am using inserpizhere "midiChordAnalyzer"
http://thepiz.org/plugins/?p=midiChordAnalyzer

Reaper track has this analyzer as first vsti in the fx chain then a pad or strings patch

to check chords / enter the new one.... if needed.
at this point RC's Chord Palette will help you to find/choose/replace chords easily...
because we already enter the scale at the beginning.

5-select all chords in the timeline (PC.. click to first chord, press to Shift then click to last chord)
right click to one of them (while all selected) open Master Track inspector, click to wheel icon then
click to Open Chords In Progression Editor...
give the Name and enter to Group (Folder-directory structure) you want to save in to..
hit to Add To Progression Browser... Done!

I hope make sense.
