Some questions

I'm quite a newbie and want to figure out how to get phrases from midi-files. The phrases , which I choosed, were nice in the original file, but doesn''t sound good with other chords. What am I doing wrong? Does it depend on the scale?
How can I save a self-made chordprogression?
Can I save a preset from a sound-module (Halion Sonic, connected with IAC-midi) in RapidComposer?
Is there a complete description of all functions anywhere?
The manual is still quite incomplete.
