I don't believe RAR is a linux-based format: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAR_(file_format)

Perhaps, you are thinking of the TAR format? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tar_(computing)

I actually prefer WinRAR over over WinZIP.
Umm, yes, you are correct. But, these days, you don't even need winzip.. windows adopted the zip, so, it's part of the os now. still .rar is old news, in my opinion. again, just my opinion..

EDIT: as an example, look at this the problems just from this thread..

tonedef71 wrote:Indeed. I should add RC to my signature :) (and possibly remove Sonar Platinum :().
I was just joking, of course I don't expect anyone to add RC to his signature. Although that would be cool.
tonedef71 wrote:I think of RapidComposer as a rapid prototyping tool for music composition. Since RC also supports the recording, editing, and playback of multi-track MIDI, could it also be classified as a MIDI sequencer?
Yes, that is right, it can be classified as a MIDI sequencer too.

And I, silly, thought that we were talking about the music program.

musicdevelopments wrote:Now I see a scale finder is missing! I'll implement a "Suggest Scale" menu in the inspector. It already works when importing MIDI, I think most of the scale suggestions are good (based on used notes in the tracks).
Sounds good!

Plugin Boutique has a new Chord Progression utility plug-in called Scaler that has a scale detection feature: Image
just grabbed :hihi: Thank you tone!

EDIT:
just trying "Scaler" with the various midi files and jeanpaul's progressions
seeing how many Chords & Notes fits to defined/suggested scales
and also seeing moods in the STYLE tags.. i love it

let me say once again Thank you so much tonedef!

Ya know what would be really really cool, is, if RC could interpret zip, rar, files. I use a 3d graphics program that does this.. all user plugins are just .zip files and all you have to do is point to the zip and it reads and installs..

My pleasure.

I think Rapid Composer synergizes well with most MIDI-based music software applications. :tu:

As a capable MIDI sequencer (verified by Attila), RC can supplement the MIDI sequencing features lacking in the typical audio-centric DAW.

Nice signature
What a lovely day! :)

(I am working like crazy on the next beta which is almost finished now. Implementing chord voicings affected lots of functionality, and was more difficult than I first imagined. But now it works!)
