I'm hoping to make a USB MIDI controller with several buttons assignable to notes. Anyone know a simple and (cheap) circuit please?

UMC32 - this was the cheapest way to build your own USB controller but not available anymore :(

How DIY do you want it ? Do you solder ? Are you planning on making the encasing yourself ?

I'm doing pretty much the exact same thing for the moment though i went for OSC instead of midi. I'm going to use an Arduino (happened to have one lying around). If it all works well i'm going for an Arduino Nano or possibly Teensy. I'd rather have the Teensy but they're a bit harder to come by.

Doepfer has some very easy to use kits but are a good deal more expensive.

im looking for a similar thing for a DIY drum kit:

i was considering butchering an existing device (like a nanokey) as i want velocity sensitivity, but im currently looking toward the 'Teensy' microcontroller and some piezo pads as the simplest option.

But when theres kit as cheap as this.......why bother, and at that price feel comfortable modding it!

Brain Jr is pretty cheap and has some extensibility:

I'm just building my own Drawbar MIDI controller using Livid Instrument Brain. The Brain v.1 and Brain Jr. are pretty cheap considering the number of I/O they offer.
