RTFM: recommended reading for anyone using the KVR forum.

edit: index is probably a better place to start: https://www.phpbb.com/support/documenta ... /index.php
Short version (TLDR;) they are simple filters for messages in threads or private which can be used by the forum style to adjust those messages. For example, messages from a "friend" can be highlighted in a specific color. Foes can be ignored entirely.

I thought I would just get used to this new look but still find it very clunky, I gotta try and get used to it though. I also miss the option to view a "printable version" on long threads to make sure I have not missed valuable information (instead of pictures of cats!). Just feedback & definitely not a complaint ... generally the devs do a great job here.

I'm actually wondering what Ben has been up to recently. It would be sort of interesting if he kept a "site stuff blog" or something so we could see purely what is going on, what are the plans and so on without discussion, while discussion about it could be kept in the forum as usual.

It's incredibly busy and difficult to read. I can't wait until it goes away and makes kvr a fun place to be again.

So KVR has had this new 'temporary' look for over a month now...WTF?
Maybe we can all chip in to get Ben a smartphone so he can see how bad the site looks/works on mobile devices too.

You should probably focus those complaints toward phpbb3's authors since Ben has nothing to do with that.
Most of the phpbb3 deployments I've seen use the default style.

Click on "styles demo" and see if you can find one you like.

Yea, lots of styles I like there, mainly ones that don't use the current icon shapes. But I wonder how responsive they are? I mainly browse on my phone and as I moaned before, the current 'shape' of the forum is all wrong for me, I can only read in landscape mode which never used to be the case.aciddose wrote:You should probably focus those complaints toward phpbb3's authors since Ben has nothing to do with that.

I still think a song post separator would be good after topics in the cafe, I find myself looking down the light bulbs to see where the song posts start, blind old man speaking

When I'm in the forums now I see that the names of the posters have switched to white text. It makes them difficult to read. I'm running chrome on Win7. Maybe Ben is gearing up to change the background colours.

The new icon images to indicate read/unread/sticky/etc.! I love them! I almost (*) don't care about the colors, these icons are so much cleaner and easier to deal with.
(*) I still care.
