Is it OK to post or link to an impulse response for a commercial reverberation product here? The general etiquette over at gear——z has been to not link or post an IR, unless the product is discontinued, or the owner of the product has given permission to make the IR available (Casey, for example, has given this permission for posting Bricasti M7 impulse responses, and long as the IRs are not sold). Is the same rule in effect here?

I'd go with the general rule of linking the owner's site rather than directly to a downloadable file. That's for any kind of product. Also, if the product owner is a KVR member, then leave well enough alone unless you've a comment to make about the product (better than "Wow"). The comment should go in the forum for the type of product (for IRs, I'd go with effects over samples).

To clarify, I’m talking about making my own impulse response of a commercial algorithmic reverb or linking to the web page for a free impulse response for a commercial algorithmic reverb. Posting an impulse response made from a commercial impulse response is obviously not OK, since that’s just a copy of the file.
My sense is that doing so is probably legal, but ethically possibly in a gray area.

Ah right, got it -- like sampling a commercial algorithmic synth. There's a thread on that in either the Instruments or Sampling (etc) forum, IIRC. I didn't follow it, as I'd no interest in synthetic sounds, whether original or sampled.
