Improvising with the Iris 2 patch Mixolydian Sax Arp from the upcoming set no 79 - live on video, of course there is also an Iris 1-version, here is the description:
Mixolydian Sax Arp
Playing a mixolydian arpeggio up/down on my soprano sax, free in time - the spectral selection in S1 (set to Radius RT-mode) is very narrow, selecting different overtones per note, often skipping the root note. S2/3 use a time-stretched and further processed version of the arpeggio, S3 looping only the last root note. MW decreases LP filter cutoff and adds some distortion. Each oscillator has it’s dedicated volume control (Macros 3-5), Macro 1 adds pan modulation (different LFO speed per oscillator), M2 adds chorus, M6/7 control reverb/delay mix.

In the Iris 2 version, all samples use the main volume envelope assigned to master volume, Macro 8 controls attack time. An additional sample is playing in oscillator 4 (soprano sax tremolo), control volume of oscillator 4 with aftertouch.

Iris Subscription Set 79 uploaded on May 9th - 2017 containing 10 presets for Iris 1/2 (226.1/230 MB) including:

Dual Singing Bowl Trem
Two different samples in S1/2 of playing an accel./rit. on a singing bowl, the samples are slightly detuned, S1 loops backward/forward. Macro 3 pans the samples L-R, MW adds slow noise-shaped pitch modulation, Macro 4 switches the mode from non-retrigger to re-trigger, please check the Macro page for FX and filter assignments.

In the Iris 2-version, Macro 4 adds audio rate modulation to master volume via LFO3 (it’s shape modulated by LFO4) as modulating the trigger mode is not possible in Iris 2. Both oscillators are set to re-trigger.

Minor Furnace Split
In the lower half S1/2 layer a tonal soundscape made by processing the field recording of a blast furnace in a steel factory with Kaleidoscope. The upper half plays a rich synth lead sound in various octaves with plenty of pitch, delay and reverb effects - overlapping split point: C3 (C4 in Iris), all oscillators run in non-retrigger mode, Glide is activated. MW adds tempo-synced amplitude modulation in S1/3, Macro 2 (Y) controls LP filter cutoff/resonance, M1 (X) adds tempo.synced, random filter modulation. M3 controls volume of S2, M4 adds tempo-synced pan modulation in S2. M5-7 control chorus mix/rate and delay mix, M8 controls release time.

Morphed Hybrid Duet 01
Audio-morphing a bowed psaltery phrase with looped trombone swells with some further processing, all three oscillators use the same long sample, S1/3 play in non-retrigger mode. MW adds tempo-synced, square-shaped pitch modulation in S1/2, +/- 1 octave with the wheel fully engaged. Macro 3 increases attack time and decreases sustain level in S2, M1 (X) adds distortion, M2 (Y) controls LP filter cutoff/resonance, M4/5 control phaser/delay mix.

In the Iris 2-version, MW also adds tempo-synced pitch modulation in S3, M6 adds pan modulation (per note), M7 controls pan modulation speed.

Morphed Hybrid Duet 02
Audio-morphing a bowed psaltery phrase with looped trombone sustain shake with strong vibrato, both oscillators use the same long sample, S1 is running in non-retrigger mode, S2 (running in Radius RT-mode) has a dedicated volume control (Macro 4), tune S2 up an octave using M3. M2 (Y) controls LP filter cutoff, M1 (X) adds slow filter modulation and increases filter resonance. MW adds tempo-synced, square-shaped pitch modulation in S1/2, +/- 1 octave with the wheel fully engaged. Please check the Macro page for FX controls.

In the Iris 2-version, aftertouch adds pan modulation per note (via LFO3, inverted polarities for S1/2).

Resonance Field Split
Processing various layered urban field recordings with Kaleidoscope and other spectral and granular tools. All three oscillators (non-retrigger mode) use the same long sample, S1/2 are layered between C3 – C8 (C4 – C9 in Iris) with S2 looping backward/forward, each oscillator has it’s dedicated volume control (Macros 3/4). S3 plays from C-1 – B2 (C0 – B3). MW adds noise-shaped pitch modulation in S1/2 and random pitch modulation in S3. M2 (Y) controls LP filter cutoff/resonance, M1 (X) adds tempo-synced, square-shaped filter modulation. Please check the Macro page for FX controls.

Sax Grinder Split
Two samples of inter-modulating/audio-morphing two soprano sax tremolos with GRM Tools -> Grinder. S1 (Radius RT-mode) and S2 (non-retrigger mode, looping backward/forward) layer the same sample, mapped from C3 – C7 (C4 – C8), control volume of S2 with Macro 3, add slow pan modulation in S2 with M4. S3 is mapped up to C3 using the second sample in non-retrigger mode. MW adds noise-shaped pitch modulation in S1 and fast random pitch modulation in S3. M2 (Y) controls HP filter cutoff/resonance, M1 (X) adds delay FX. M5/6 control chorus/reverb mix.

In the Iris 2-version, MW also adds noise-shaped pitch modulation in S2 (via LFO4), Macro 7 adds pan modulation per note in S1 (via LFO5)

Urban Resonances
Processing various layered urban field recordings with Kaleidoscope and other spectral and granular tools. All three oscillators use the same long sample (non-retrigger mode in S2/3), each oscillator has it’s dedicated volume control (Macros 3-5). M2 (Y) adds tempo-synced HP filter modulation (ramp up), M1 (X) adds delay FX, MW adds aliasing distortion. Macro 6 adds pan modulation (different LFO speed in each oscillator), M7 controls panning speed, M8 controls chorus FX mix.

In the Iris 2-version, aftertouch adds noise-shaped pitch modulation in all three oscillators.

Warped Sine Descender
S1/2 both use the same abstract soundscape (made with Chromaphone 2/Relayer and other things) with inverted frequency selection, S2 running in Radius RT-mode, S1 in non-retrigger mode, Macros 3/4 are individual volume controls for each oscillator. MW adds slow, noise-shaped pitch modulation, Macros 2 adds noise-shaped HP filter modulation, M1 adds aliasing distortion, M5 controls delay FX mix, M6 increases delay time.

In the Iris 2-version, Macro 7 adds noise-shaped pan modulation (via LFO3) with opposite polarities in S1/2.

Warper Drone
Drone sound with lots of spectral action, produced with a wavetable synth in HALion 6 processed by GRM Warp - sampled at two pitches, with variations in the upper sound. S1/2 layer the lower sample with a sort of inverted frequency selection (use Macros 3/4 for individual volume control), S3 plays the upper sound, overlapping split zone: C2 – C3 (C3 – C4 in Iris). MW adds tempo-synced pitch modulation (different LFO shapes in each oscillator), Macro 2 (Y) controls LP filter cutoff/resonance, M1 (X) adds distortion. Please check the Macro page for FX assignments.

Another Iris 2 patch converted from the Iris 1 version, in this case I added another sample in oscillator 4, here is the patch description:
Harmonic Rain Split
Rich harmonic drone texture, all 3 oscillators use the same long sample highlighting different sonar aspects from it. S1/2 are layered up to C4 (C5 in Iris), use Macro 3 to control the volume of S2, S3 plays above C4 (C5). MW introduces tempo-synced amplitude modulation in S1/2 (2 against 3) and random pitch modulation in S3. Check the Macro page for more assignments.

In the Iris 2-version, S4 adds a drone sample in the upper register (mapped from C4 upwards - C5 in Iris), control’s it’s volume with Macro 6. MW also introduces tempo-synced amplitude modulation in S4 (ramp up via LFO4).

I just sent out 25 freshly converted Iris 2 patches to all subscribers, as usual some modulations were added where it seemed necessary, other things were simplified to work around the obstacles in Iris 2. In two of the patches I also added new samples in oscillator 4. An updated patchlist which mentions the changes made in the Iris 2-patches is included in the download folder. There are now 327 Iris 2 patches available including 7.8 GB of samples, the price for the Iris 2 subscription was moderately raised to € 65 EUR, the price for the total Iris subscription remains as is (€ 120 EUR).

Here is another video featuring 4 of these converted patches, improvised live on video.
