I did another demonstration with the Modelled Reality soundset, this time to show off the sensitivty of the Chromaphone playinng interface. I've played a Bach prelude to show this off. The preset used is Ping Pong Plucker..

I spent some time working on a new track.

Finding the good stuff:

A track playing single sounds combined with a simple transparent ostinato, the intention was to reveal som of the sublte qualities available in the Modelled Reality soundset these atmospheric sounds are from the MR Textures&Pads category. Disclaimer one sound slipped in from the Patchpool, ChromaZone soundset; metallic String Beam.

I'm still discovering interesting things about the Modelled Reality Soundset.

http://soundcloud.com/twotoneshuzz/in-t ... en/s-QD2Kj

I wanted to get into the Chomaphone as a playing instrument using the keyboard, and the Maschine pads. Worked alot on tweaking the Velocity response on the Waldorf Blofeld keyboard and the Maschine pads, and transposed and tried playing all the sounds through the whole range of the keyboard, and used the transpose and root knob on the maschine interface.

So everything in this example is played then edited except some textures and one lead that has a couple of instances layered in Numerology Pro 3, . So all together about 8 instances of Chromaphone.

Because of the variation in some of the percussion sounds over the tonal range there is at least 20 or so distinct timbres..

I'm posting a new Demo of the patchpool soundset Modelled Reality

http://soundcloud.com/twotoneshuzz/stra ... er/s-pxnct

Two sets of 3 textures vector mixed in Numerology Pro 3 as well as a split layered patch.

Kind of music concrete like.

Sometimes I like to make the fades outs come on really quickly to give an old school dynamic glitch.

This setup had 3 Vahlhalla Room one Valhall Shimmer instances and the Arts Acoustic Compresser on the Master Buss.

New example using sounds from the Modelled Reality bank exclusively:

http://soundcloud.com/twotoneshuzz/stra ... es/s-NLTGF

11 instances of Chromaphone, 3 sets of three Chromaphone instances with automated vector mixing as well as 2 instances without volume variation.I let one of the possible four sound slots in each of the vector groups remain empty this gives much needed space in the mix..

I've gotten into using the preset manager in the Chromaphone to arrange banks of sounds for each of the 9 automixed instances so I can get access to about 5-8 sounds for each Chromaphone instance. I've setup automation in Numerology Pro 3 so I get staggered preset changes through the piece every 16 bars. So theoretically there is 64 different sounds playing through the piece though because of the automixing you don't hear that many.

Finally though I'm getting a hand on in the box preset changes which is helped immensely by the Chromaphones excellent preset management module.

Also using the Modelled Reality bank like this gives a certain cohesive sound to the project, speeds up the process of finding sounds that fit together.

My vector mixing setup needs fine tuning but it's fun to see the Balls jumping around in the frame. Numerology has a glide amount so modulating this gives variation in the speed of the mix envelopes..Edit as I just had set this up I hadn't fully understood the way things were working so now I've gotten a better grasp on the setup and even made a reverse back loop so I kan use the vector controls to program the sequencers that I was using to modulate the vectors!! Mostly though I'll be able to get more timbral variety in my arrangements using the Vector mixing combined with the per instance preset lists I've got working for me.

I worked with this while Baumgartner was floating upwards to his jump point...

I didn't think the Vector mixing of the nine instances was that apparent in the previous two examples so I've made another example that shows this technique more clearly by pumping up the rate of change, also I wasn't clear about vector coordinates and their relation to mix layers so I've sorted that out now.

Another tweak to the set up was to turn off all reverbs in the Chromaphone so that when program changes happen rapidly there is not too much of a problem with clicks and lost reverb tails. Which strangely enough I rather like anyways but still it's not professional so I do my best to alleviate the problem. Actually feel like adding glichy effects to some things nowadays..

This is a longer track necessitated perhaps by the many variations of sounds and levels.

I also have made devious use of tempo modulation so I create a general gradual accelarando for every 21 bar period as well as local swing over 6/16 notes to help break the deathly straight jacket of rigid tempo in computer based sequenced music.

Also there are a few major jumps in tempo.Interesting these tempo shifts seem to occasionally have an influence on the Chromaphones pitch. Not entirely sure of that though.
