This is a demo for Chopstick Bass 9Vel RR3 - samples made by slapping a chopstick on the frame of the drum moving the stick into the center of the drum a bit with each accent so that different overtones occur going through the harmonic scale (Phythagoras). That results in 9 velocity layers and I made 3 variations for each sample (3x Round Robin):

Here is a demo for the patch "Bowldrum Scape" which uses 4 sources, this time I'm using keyswitches to change the presets during the demo and some x/y-Snapshot morphing later in the track, quite an amazing patch really...

Simon, I'm in. Just when I think you can't get any more creative than you already are. Really looking forward to playing with these patches. Thanks.

Yeah, these patches will be really playable, lot's of things to tweak, lot's of variations to be achieved. I had no idea to which sonic places this project would take me besides sampling the heck out of a framedrum - now I know...

Sometimes you can get very interesting things by just going deeper and deeper with the same subject. I've had this idea of doing a performance where I sample something in the room, a voice or a sound, and then just keep processing, looping, cutting, stretching to where the whole composition is based on one sound.

Great concept, you should make this happen then!krankyone wrote:Sometimes you can get very interesting things by just going deeper and deeper with the same subject. Hi Simon,
just had a listen now to your demos - you never fail to amaze me with the sounds you're getting out of what ever you touch.
(Well, should I really be surprised, as I follow your work for around 2 and a half year now ? ...I really should know better now...)
I guess you could create a beautiful pad from the cough of an ant...
BTW - for me half the fun of your soundsets is listening to your demo tracks and following the creative progress from the start !
IMHO some people could learn a thing or two from this - I'm sure I missed a great soundset/library/instrument sometimes, because someone just published a single dull demo track, which would not do justice to the work they actually
put into their project.
About the Framedrum...
To be honest to this moment I was a noob about knowing anything about this instrument - did some googling on this instrument - found some interesting vids, also seems there's quite a varity of different instruments out there.
The Framedrum has a great organic sound, with lots of different timbres
(depending on how you play it).
They all seem to be capable of some deep bassy sounds also (which I hope you will also cover with a multisampled instrument at least).
Seem to be quite affordable also...
Looking forward to another great soundset...
Cheers,
Frank
