I'd like to add that following Simon's lead is not such a bad way to find out whats interesting and useful in the synth/sampler/effects world, IMO he has very good taste and a deep insight in sound technology, so as in this case here Halion 5 comes in as highly recommended..
Seems to me that most VST instruments these days are very fairly priced for what you get. The soundware on offer here as well..
