My main project from the weekend was making a track using a sound from the Celtic Harp single set. This set has a lot to offer, but here I just used the Celtic harp instrument. I used a very small amount of additional effects UVi Relayer and 2C B2 as well as a limiter on the instrument. edit: I also added a small amount of Vel--> pitch modulation, possible too much, but it gives the track some edge..

Fascinating to watch and listen..

I'm using the Macros with a novation nocturn I'm a little in doubt as to a best practice for setting up Logic to record the macro adjustments. I find I can only get it to record this if I map the Nocturne directly to the parameter associated with the macro. An extra step but a great hassle..

You can also assign Midi/Midi learn directly to a Macro, often numerous parameters are assigned to a single Macro, so I wouldn't know how to go through the hassle of re-assigning 10+ things in Novation Nocturn (which I haven't used).

Does Logic record the Macro adjustments if I change them on the Falcon GUI?

Of course, that's what I'm doing here - just assign them to a host ID (right click on the Macro), set Logic to Latch/Touch and voila, you can't save these assignments with a patch though as it's a host-related thing.

That was a great help ! thanks for the info...

A very dark trio with 3 finalized patches from Falcon Scapes Vol. 1 - combining time-stretched and retuned nightingale, granulated brass, processed cello/piano-scapes, analog/FM droning and more.

So you took the Celtic harp to Asia, reminding me a lot of Koto players I heard in Japan, quite delicate and strange, could be the underscore in a scene of one of those epic Chinese movies with old costumes and a lot of makeup...

Actually it was a effort to not sound like a pianist, so I took a improv and inverted it and worked a lot with trying to get it to make a least some sense. I have practiced some Chinese QiGong were there was music quite intensively over 7 years , so maybe that influence seeped in here too..

Thanks for commenting.. More on the way.

I just released this:

Image

This collection assembles a small sonic universe, combining cinematic, mysterious, wondrous, abstract and ethereal soundscapes - up to 2+ minutes in length - with lush and haunting vocal pad sounds and one-finger-beauties, dark and futuristic drones and some animated sequences with electronic bass, drum and arp sounds using Falcon’s analog and FM oscillators. The samples involved were derived from a broad range of acoustic instruments, electronic sources and field recordings, often using techniques of spectral and additive re-synthesis and/or audio morphing. A bunch of samples was borrowed from the patchpool Iris subscription-library, all other samples were created exclusively for this library.

Many presets make use of Falcon’s multi-granular engine and there is also a wavetable synth included. Quite a few presets are running in split mode and/or layer sound textures via key-switches. Up to 20+ Macros and switches plus the modulation wheel are assigned in each patch, many also use aftertouch, providing detailed control over volume envelopes, filtering, amplitude- and pitch modulations, EQ-ing, dynamics, stereo animation, effects and more. All patches use some sort of background image in the UI, split patches have colored key-zones in the Falcon keyboard for easier navigation.

You can view/download the PDF for this library with more details, the licence agreement, and the patchlist including descriptions and playing tips here.

Content:
  • *24 patches
*780 MB of samples (53 wavs/stereo/48 Khz/24 Bit) 5 background images for the UI and wavetable re-synthesis.
*Content is not encrypted, samples and wavetables can be used in other samplers and synths.
    *Delivery: download
*Library size in total: 783.4 MB
*Price: € 18.50 EUR (25% off for active Iris subscribers in 2016 and following)
*Requires the full version of Falcon, does not work with the UVI player.
Product page.

The demos below were produced using only patches from Falcon Singles - Falcon Scapes Vol.1, no post-processing was applied apart from a limiter on the master output.
