But most of our plugins do this already by offering various equal loudness workflows (Equal Loudness Trim, Equal Loudness Bypass, EQ Loudness compensation). The GEs offer the most complete support for EL workflows of course.
The DSP is also largely level independent, so there's no such thing as a necessity for gain staging when using them.
Both points above make I/O metering per plugin a somewhat obsolete feature. Not to forget the cpu costs related to loudness metering each input and output, and the "low value" visual distraction it imposes.
