After a few minutes of tweaking and play testing, the Group Switch section blanks out the values I entered, and no matter what I do, they do not come back, unless I remove the group switching and assign it again.
It is quite baffling.

Sorry, I cannot reproduce anything like that. And I think you need to come up with a slightly better description than "tweaking and play testing". Can you provide a deterministic reproducer?
