How do I control the amount of modulation applied, using a host VSTi parameter?

I could not see a way of automating the Modulation Table Amount level, nor the LFO1 (the source) Amp control. I ended up with this:

Image
-- when the host parameter is 0 there is no modulation (i.e. the first Mod amount)
-- when the host parameter is 0.5 there is some modulation (i.e. (second Mod Amount - first Mod amount) /2 + first Mod amount = 50ct
-- when the host parameter is 1 (oops, was 0) there is full modulation (i.e. the second Mod amount, 100ct)

But I'm sure that there is a better way.

I am hoping the last line should read "when the host parameter is 1".
This is exactly how you do it, and what the "via" is for. Is there any problem with this approach?

It certainly should - it was very late when I copied and pasted ;) Now corrected

No real problems, now that I've seen how to do it.
