getting clicks when making loops

Hey guys!
I just installed the sampler and like the old school vibe!
However when I set sustain loops in samples I always get more or less obvious clicks.
I activated the crossfade for the loop, set the start/end points so they are as close to a "zero point" as possible and make the crossfade shorter/longer trying to avoid the clicks. Then I render the crossfade into the file (apply crossfade or what the knob is called), but it never sounds right.
Am I missing anything? Using crossfades should make it easy to avoid clicks just like it works in any DAW.

Well, crossfade is not a magic bullet. The loop must sound "ok" before it can maybe smooth it further. Without seeing your source sample there is not much more I can say. Feel free to post it.
