I just upgraded from XP to Win8, and T3 runs fine. Well, as fine as T3 can. The fact that this forum changed names from "Mackie Tracktion" to just "Tracktion" leads me to believe that someone at KVR knows something that we don't. Keeping my fingers crossed.rockstar_not wrote: I run T3 in Win 7 64 as an administrator and I can pretty much pretend that all is well in my DAW world. But Win8 is here and eventually, if I want to get another cheap PC, I'll be forced to go Win8 and I don't know if I'll be as fortunate with that.

I guess I am confused. At this part in the S1 2.5 update thread, it looks like they are simply asking for the type of clip based automation that has been in Tracktion since version 2: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... &start=105BosseJo wrote:Are you sure you understand what they really are talking about? It's not just about "automation in/on a clip" or "plain simple gain setting". Of course you can change the gain of every clip.rockstar_not wrote:In the S1 2.5 release thread, there are several posts about wanting clip-based automation or even just plain simple clip gain setting. Had that since T2.valley wrote:I tried the demo. I didn't mind it, but the price is a little high for what is now a hobby. There was some big thing that turned me off though, but I can't remember off hand what it was.todd sweetland wrote:@valley have you tried StudioOne2 ? You could use that and for modular stuff get Mux from MuTools or MetaPlug from DDMF and you'd have a very Tracktion - ish setup . Or you could just use XP and Tracktion .
I appreciate the suggestion though!

Perhaps I'm missing something? It flows onto the next page where there's a ProTools marketing video demonstrating very simple clip based automation of gain change. This stuff looks pretty pedestrian in the ProTools video that someone posted as what they are looking for in S1 v 2.5.

More Tracktion love here. I've grown to like Reaper and they deserve my money simply for being awesome in so many ways, but I wouldn't think twice about going back to Tracktion with an update (my upcoming album still has a couple songs mixed in Tracktion). I tried Studio One as well, and while I think it was the most immediately accessible DAW out there for me, there is simply no replacement. Give me FL Studio and Tracktion and I needn't look anywhere else.

Here's a thread form the Studio One forum about automation:

I can see why you're confused I had to read it several times before I understood (at least I think I do now).
I really like Studio One, remember that it's just version 2 and the dev. says that there were so many things they wanted to add but they had to draw the line somewhere. I mean PT 10, Logic 9, Cubase 7, sonar 11 (12, 13?)... 2.5 is coming up now. I used Sonar for while and it was a nightmare. I was naive and fell for the fact that, like Tracktion it didn't have a lot of floating windows and dialogue boxes, but that was probably the only good thing about it. First of all it never really worked and the updates were ridiculously belated. Routing was like anti-Tracktion and so on... I have never seen a more mature Daw right from the start than Studio One. I think workflow is even better than Tracktion (and with more features).

ok that's it... I'm going to re-download T3 and see how she runs on my laptop... I miss T.
There's a total conflict brewing inside of me.
Stay with Ableton Live... OR Back to Tracktion...
