Plugin scan (ladspa, vst) fails on Ubuntu LTS (T4 and T5)

Sorry for cross posting -

None of the plugins that I've installed on my machine are scanned successfully - Tracktion is just stuck on any of them and doesn't respond any longer when I do a plugin scan (can't even press cancel). All those plugins works in other software.

System specs:
Ubuntu Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS (64 bit), 3.2.0-58-generic
CPU Type x86_64 - Core(TM)2 Duo CPU L7700

any ideas what could be missing in loading plugins? apparently other linux users are using ladspa plugins and they are working fine...

I'm in the same boot. Plugin scan (VST and LADSPA) does not work and hangs. I need to kill the Tracktion process.

There is another annoying bug when creating a new project. I cannot change the Location directory of the new project. Neither the button nor the path field is working.

I can use the plugins in other DAWS.

OS: ArchLinux 64bit
Tracktion 5.2.6 for Linux
