We will be adding more schemes through the year - I am personally a big fan of the darker themes. Its just got to work its way up the priority list.

The complexity is all on the shoulders of the developers - its a very easy feature for the user but it brings MAJOR complexity to us. If you look back at some of the old T4 color schemes, on close inspection you will notice there were errors all over the place - text that cannot be read because background colors mismatched etc This is just the tip of the iceberg - it has deeper implications to functionality too.

A useful thing we can all do to help Jules is create a shortlist of our favorite color styles - for example 'dark and sharp'

We do have a graphics specialist on staff now - she is a long term Logic user - but new Tracktion convert - and did a lot of the graphics for the new website - so I think we are well covered for creative input to Jules :)
Sounds good! I had no idea this would trigger a 3-page thread, geesh. For me it's not a beauty thing (Tracktion looks fine to me) but a "my eyes are old and crappy" usability issue. A little higher contrast here and there would work fine *for me*.

Hello TSC

I too have "crappy old eyes" and I just realized that if the current color selection was WYSIWYG I'd be happy with it but for instance, when I select the bright red color from the panel on the bottom of the screen, I get a pinkie-brownie pastel color instead. None of the other colors are true to the ones represented in the selection panel.

This computer has a decent video card but I tried it on two other computers with the same result. I'll attempt to send you a screenshot at Tracktion as I am unable to do so here.

Please ask your new graphics lady to look into this because what (color) I select is not what I'm getting.

Regards,

It is time to come together in the middle of the road.

I think the main problem T5 theme has right now is a mixture or too much different colors, I agree on color schemes, maybe not full customisation but some skins would be cool, maybe color based, so the theme is always based on a specific palette.

Don't take me wrong, I made an example (a bad one!!) of what I kinda desire: a blue-based color scheme.

Would be nice to have an easy-on-eyes selection of color based skins :)

EDIT: forgot to say, I would also like to have proper, mixer-like strong green meters and as I did in the example remove that purple from the waveforms in the inspector, pure black/dark grey is better :)

Have today loaded up t5 demo. I really don't like the way it looks.
All prev versions have looked ok on my monitor. (Sony 40" LCD TV)
Will have to have a noodle to see if things can be improved over HDMI.

About the ui am pretty sure jules 'll do better for colours at certain point.

But for the gradient and 3d effect it's not really good :/
I mean the top bar (cpu and projects tabs)
Also for the dialog buttons.

Also the pan buttons are now separated from the level buttons it's really better to manipulate but why not just square style rather tan the triangle one cause it looks ugly imo.

Yeah I'd rather it was completely flat. I hate the few bits of 3D/Gradients done in a vector based interface, they just don't work aesthetically.

The circular, "mute" "enabled" and "end to end" buttons look terrible on my set up.
Cant tell if they're active or not. Have a feeling i can improve this via my HDMI connection but thewhole thing looks washed out to me right now.
Yuk.

I'd really like something darker with less different colours, no pastels and more contrast. Don't really care at all whether a knob is blue or green, but I think the total colour set could be improved. Customising skins is not my hobby.
The current T5 interface in fullscreen is too bright for me. But maybe my eyes are more sensitive? Maybe my screen is larger than average? Who knows *

But I do love the sound and functionality of T5! :D

How about the Bitwig colours?

Or something like my old fav. skin?

* This is how T5 looks on my screen. Look for instance at the filters on the right. It hurts my eyes, like interference, almost like this image.

+ 42 :tu:
Colours and Contrast for the stuff I work on, not for buttons and such background noise ;-)

Yes, its a bit washed out here too.
Though i've tweaked things in the contrast and connected via HDMI which has sharpened things up.
Now, I just have to work out why all my Waves plugs are now called waveshells instead of what they actually are, ie CL Alge Drums, and i'm possibly in business.

As Stewie Griffin said, "I don't like change".

There was a T3 skin that was VERY similar to this...

thats why i love my colour editor ^^
I use my own skins: 3 one light one dark and one grey without colours at all :)
After this work i haven't touched the colour editor because am happy with them anyway am pretty sure tracktion 'll have a drak and a light skin at least we just need to wait ;)

Im sure they will have a fix , maybe a Light , Medium , and Dark theme but not an editor . The current theme Id say is a Light theme similar to the Freezer Theme that a user had made for T4 . I always liked the old Tracktion releases GUI , this one doesn't bother me , but I prefer a darker theme . ex. Bitwig , Energy XT , ReNoise , Ardour or Mixbuss , even the default Reaper theme is OK . Imdo like the new full screen button on the 5.2.4 Windows release !
