External Synth - No sound via MIDI Keyboard

Hello,

Just upgraded to Tracktion 5, from Tracktion 1! very good so far but just one question. I'm sure it's really simple but I can't suss this out. I have a hardware synth connected, I can get sounds via the MIDI clip in Tracktion, but nothing when I try playing through the MIDI keyboard. I have the keyboard set up as the input but nothing?

DO you have a sampler or synth on the track?

Select the input and ensure end to end is enabled?
It sounds as though routing is correct if the clip is playing,
