I'm a T6 user too and so far I've had no luck doing this :( It would be an awesome enhancement

Unfortunately, I have found that this only works with T7 and later. T6 and earlier versions doesn't have this ability :(

you might declare audacity as the external audio editor in Tracktion.
for denoising, commercial software is recommended anyway, e.g. there are some WAVES plugins for this, and many audio cleaning suites.
Can you please tell me how I can 'declare audacity' as the external audio editor, on T6? I believe you can go directly to audacity, from Traction, without having to open audacity and copy, then paste (or import as a .WAV) the wave from across and then back again, once edited. I just don't know how to

Another reason why I'd like to do this is so I can look at the waveform shape (for example...) after compression has been applied. In T6, the waveform does not physically change in appearance after these modifications

click track
[view source info] -> detail form appears
[edit audio file] > [set audio editor]

but there is an issue with open file handles, that wasn't with T1.
you might have to return after editing with a copy having a different file name, which is good practise anyway, "versioning"..

I've tried to set audacity as an audio editor for Tacktion, however tracktion doesn't recognise it and won't let me select this as the editor!

I entered the path to some ancient cooledit, and there is no problem.
Full path + exe file name required.

Aha, when you said to follow the path, that helped me. Thank you, now it works :)
