CS2: how to crossfade dynamics ?

Hello,

Sorry if this is a newbie question, but in the first TVEC documentation there is a reference to "crossfading dynamics" (http://www.kirkhunterstudios.com/automation_tvec.html), by using a MIDI CC. However the only control I see activated on the CS2 instruments in TVEC4 is CC11 which automates the volume. I don't think this crossfades recorded dynamics layers.

Is there a way to crossfade dynamics ? This would allow to do a crescendo on sustained notes while keeping the tone change and staying in a reasonable volume level.

Thank you in advance,
Thibault

Exactly which instrument (by name) are you trying to crossfade? Once I get that, I'll see if that can be setup.

Thanks for your answer,

I'm using a strip-down version of the "1st Violins 16,8,4,1 Players All articulations.nki" instrument (I've purged 8,4,2,1 players and kept only basic articulations).

For the moment I'm using velolicity to use different dynamics layers, and volume through CC11 to add expression, but I wonder if thare could ab a mode in which ModWheel could add both volume adjustments and dynamics layer crossfade.

I will go through this and get back to you today.

If you make the modwheel control volume, and also the vibrato layers, you'll get a good effect of dynamic crossfading.

Hi Kirk,
Sorry for may late answer.

Many thanks for your answer, I'll try that.

How about this?

I haven't tried it, but it is supposed to allow cross-fabing of up to 6 velocity layers via the modwheel.
I should like to try it on solo brass, but also on solo strings, to link volume to timbre on long notes.

Crossfading actual dynamic layers does not work in solos. Only the ensembles.
