I downloaded this Virus from the site, and in the zip its a .sme file...and according to me an sme file is not a dll vst lol :)
therein lies the confusion: you've downloaded a patch for the Sync Modular instrument, not a VSTi. You would have to have SyncModular installed to access (ha!) this patch and use it.
I didn't understand earlier, as I didn't go any deeper into wikter's site that the front page...but now I'm glad I did!.

Ah I see...too bad the sync project is dead....is there any place where you can still evaluate the program?

Post

yeah, would be sweet if these abandoned/discontinued products could be released "into the wild." But according to one SynC resource site, the main elements were incorporated into Reaktor 5. Likely Native Instruments would have prevented a "freeware" release after buying the technology from the developer...

Virus sme...

Well, you missed the message.
The resources page is information usable for "modular synthesis" freaks.
That ensemble is loadable with SynC Modular... and it sounds very interesting.

Unfortunately, it is not available anymore... (Sonic spot has a 2.08 version)
Those ensembles were created for SM2.21

Well, SynC Modular License says anyone can distribute the installation "as is"... well, what a shame, I can't find a downloaded/downloadable v2.21 version setup.

And I'm thinking about changing those knobs... but recompiling some synths would not improve their performance, in fact, older SE versions uses about 5% less CPU than newer because the signal switchers. :(

Well..

SynC Modular site available... to be updated soon.

Does anyone knows where to get incontact with Robin Chard?
It's just a big routing problem with his SynC modular ensembles...
ufff!
I think it'd be hard to get, but does anyone have an adress to contact him?
What does those values ("1A, 2A1, 2A2, 3A1, 3A2, 3A3?) do on its SynC Modular Virus Ensemble?

Hi, I'm still doing stuff, now with a bit more care for details.
These are 2 betas done with Synthedit 1.140. I've had some problems using last versions just because they don't export graphics, but now everything is downgraded and starts to work well.

Add'It is an Additive Synth based on some Arguru early synths created for Buzz. This one combines the ease of any other organ simulation, but adds waveform choices and some modulation. It sounds great, but the presets should be refined.
XV is a different toy, it's based on my previously unfinished MVX Osmosis, adding improved XT oscillators from Xtruder. It combines SHish oscillators, PD oscillators and XV in the same panel. And YES, it's very complex, but on the other side, it can create very interesting timbres.

Both two need some improvements and adjustments, but if you'd like to try/test and comment me anything, i'll be glad to read it. A manual for both two is also being written with captions to explain those names and hardwirings I've used.
