( ofcourse I'm a legal user of Reaktor :)
!!! do it at your own risk anyways. !!!

how to:
1) unpack the install with 7zip (free tool)
2) search for your proper exe and dlls in extracted area
( I use 32 bit ones - 32 bit are smaller in size than 64 bit ones )
3) copy exe over the old exe and copy dlls over old dlls in your vst dir

tadaa :) it works like a charm.
are these files in the "data" folder?
if so, where?
i did find some .exe files, but im not sure which one is correct

thanks

Thank you for posting the workaround for installing on a pre-W7 os! I bought on Vista, got stable so skipped 7, the 8 got the bad reviews, so holding off until next version, blah blah blah. Absynth 5 here I come!

Post

Excellent! If I have time tonight I'll take it for a brief test run!

WOW what a load of horse shit.
Run the update, download the new version, now service center will not even launch.
Something about needing Windows 7, I don't think Vista differs at all in this regard...
Can some one PLEASE enlighten me as to why this won't work on Vista?

I've always thought of Windows 7 as Vista with the settings changed to be less annoying... besides it's XP combatibility mode I am pretty sure they are the same thing...
I must not know something, OMG :o Panic attack.

Read the above posts. You'll have to do same hacking. Some software checks what OS you have when you you run it and won't execute if it doesn't match what it wants to see. You can fake it though. It seems dumb to me that they would make the software unintstallable on an OS that it is most likely going to work fine on just to save themselves the hassle of telling people that their OS isn't supported if it doesn't work fine. There are plenty of ways to get it up and running. I believe some of them are mentioned in this thread already.
