hi folks ;D hope the new year treats you well! id like to share with you all my new album, released over the holidays. the result of a months residency at the banff centre, congealed and conjured in a little snow covered hut in the rockies. with the exception of a live jam with a number of the other musicians, all instrumentation was created solely on the linnstrument. hope you enjoy it!

sorry must have done something wrong, correct links are:

Hi Roger

Maybe a page on your website, curated by you, for just beats/songs? Is that what you already meant by sound files or did you mean presets? (if this kind of page already exists please ignore below)

I understand how a videos would help better publicity, but then me n others and who have made songs/beats made entirely or with the Linnstruemnt (or a singnificant part of the sounds are using the linnStrument- weather it be controlling synths or drum pads or whatever)

I guess one concern is how one could tell if its actually a Linntrument- well you can select only those tracks that speak for themselves of this instrument's capabilities. Concerned number 2 is being spammed with songs. No ideas how to deal with that :(

Sooner or later ill make my own playlist on soundcloud page for stuff i made using the linnstrument but above is just my two cents- i make songs with the the LS which is what it's purpose was not necessarily make videos of me playing it right?

For me its the only midi controller i'm using, learning the Keyboard is almost gone from my bucket list thanks to you.

p.s my low row for today is pink, cz pink is my favorite crayon.

cheers,
Mishra

Hi Mishra,

Thanks for the idea. I prefer videos to audio recordings because they show how you used LinnStrument to create it. People tend not to click on an audio demo because it doesn't show that.

At the bottom of the Owners Videos pages, I've written the following:

"Do you have a YouTube video of an impressive LinnStrument performance? I'm especially interested in one that demonstrates skilled expressive solo performance that can't be achieved on a conventional MIDI keyboard, or a skilled piano-like two-handed performance."

In other words, I'm most interested in videos that demonstrate musical techniques that aren't possible without LinnStrument's expressive 3D control, and especially ones that demonstrate musical skill, which people naturally prefer to watch.

For example, if you like creating beats, then I'm less interested in video of simply hitting pads to create a beat because any drum machine can do that. That's why the only beatmaking video I've posted on my site is the following one in which I use LinnStrument's arpeggiator with 3D control, something no other drum machine or drum pad interface can do:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHWrSs8o1V4

If you were to create a beatmaking video demonstrating this 3D Arpeggiator technique but with a better and more creative beat than what I did my my video, it would be very nice!

Thanks Roger

I am aware of what you said before and what&why you're looking for in videos. I(like others) are more into making songs and with the Linnstrument i've been able to add layers I wouldn't have otherwise-and it shows-for example the detailed nuances and even imperfections on the noise component of a bitwig stock synth done with Yaxis modulation. (p.s something I've picked up from my hi-hop friends- by 'beats' i meant complete musical loops with all instruments not just the percussion aspect ).

True people won't click on audio links- but if it's on your website, a small list, and curated by you, at least people who are interested in the LinnStrument are more likely to click. Just filter through the songs that you can tell from listening are not easy to create using the old midi standard.

Basically my concern is there must me people out there making great stuff with the LinnStrument but they are just not into making videos, or don't have the setup, or a decent cam, and that music is being missed out from your promotion. Virtuosity is one thing but showing how it inspires good/new songwriting is another and that should'nt be left out. ..As you would surely agree nuances are not just about musical solos but in tone and timbre change and other quirks of simple chord progressions.

I'll give making a video a shot though. Cz you're the boss-man ;)

Cheers
Mishra

Hi Mishra,

Basically I'm interested in any media that will cause people to run out and buy a LinnStrument. :)

If you've got something you think would help in that regard, email me a link and I'll take a listen.

Thanks

Guys, i hate to say this, of course if there is a vid you click it, but trust me , if it is a lick that is just cute enough, and you know that *it is * made on a special instrument, i think the most will click it too.
Personally me and my friend will not lay any videos up, 2 blind girls with a waving camera?
It could very fast take pictures we did not intent to be there… :)
We will however lay some sound files up, we hope people will listen to them, if they won't… :d
The kind of music we will use it for to start with is country pop, in style with BP, LB, and CU.
Ive borrowed a LS from a person, sister will come with my own next week, and then it is , practice time.
We could of course already now lay stuff online, but it would be unintelligent since it is not made on a LinnStrument :)
Till, have a wonderful day, y'all

I've had the Linnstrument for one week now and I love it! I edited some clips together of my first try at using the split function.

LinnStrument controlling seven panned instances of Logic's EXS24.
No row offset, MIDI set to channel per row.
The middle row plays a chromatic scale with standard pitch, the six rows above and beneath it are tuned higher and lower, resulting in a scale with 84 steps (not all are equal, as the detune knob of EXS24 can't be set to exact values):
