Sierra with the latest update. I wonder if the unpacker app (Keka) that I use could be the culprit here.

Going to change the Mac installer packaging from a .zip to a .dmg - this should avoid any possible permissions issues.

"It just works." Well, actually, in this case, it was my fault. I should know better than to use a .zip - the .dmg standard is better at ensuring permissions are respected in OS X.

Alright, tested on Snow Leopard, Yosemite, and Sierra. Everything is working beautifully now. :)

Thanks Kazrog, works fine now! :)

Some UX considerations regarding the MAC installer:
- pixelation on a Retina screen (mentioned earlier)
- the plugin selector is quite small and the installer window is not resizable. I could easily fit the whole list of plugins on my screen all at once, yet I have to scroll inside a tiny box.
- on a MacBook, scrolling with a multitouch gesture only works when the mouse is over the scrollbar
- when the checkbox at the root of the tree is unchecked, I cannot check any other checkbox

Appreciate the suggestions. I'll address inline below:

I may not be able to do anything about that, at least for a while.

I can't make it resizable, but I can set it to a bigger fixed size to start with.

Very likely I can't do anything about this, either.

nixx wrote:- when the checkbox at the root of the tree is unchecked, I cannot check any other checkbox

Nothing I can do about that - it's just how it works. Sorry!

Anyway - if you find that the installer feels a bit "charmingly retro" - you're not wrong. I'll be talking to the vendor about that and what their plans are on the roadmap for the installer software itself, as most of your UX concerns are things that only they can address. Personally, I don't mind the retro aesthetic - it's incredibly efficient and presents information clearly, which is what I'm all about.

Well, TBH, I struggle to find anything charming about seeing 6 items from a list of 30+ items in a tiny pixelated window, being able to scroll only when I point the cursor directly at a narrow scrollbar and being able to make selection of 3 plugins only by manually unchecking all the other plugins...
But I appreciate that the up-to-date packages are downloaded on the fly and installed automatically.. that's neat! I also admire the sound of the plugins themselves, that's without a question :tu:
I just think that addressing these UX issues (or pushing the installer vendor to address them) would help the overall impression.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
