Postby frthib; Thu May 17, 2018 1:57 pm Modded plexi's, quick demo

Hi, I like to dig into amps models less popular, everybody loves the serpend and friedman so i'll look elsewhere

This is what those modded plexis present in thermionik (the soldano and jose plexis) inspired me... Setting are B-M-T-pres all 6. Channel jumped gain half.. Not boosted, they don't need it IMO. I had to lower the input gain to -6 to tame the gain.

I recorded the same short track with both amp to compare the sound.. the J is a bit fuzzied in a good way.. The S seem more sharp. Two very interesting amp sim I just discovered... They'll get more milleage for sure!

The bass is amped bass 100%. no di.

I used pteq-x to eq. I aimed for a very generic hot rodded rock tone.. It remind me of the bruce dickison solo era.

I compared IR with both amp model on left and right while the project was opened in reaper bu curiosity. There is celestion, my own stuff (wgs veteran 30 & et65), 3 Sigma Steve Steven (the new 2.0 thing. Can't ear the différence) and Ownhammer Recto O 70A (oh1-4)

thanks for reading.

Very nice. Would you say more about how you set up the bass?

Thanks,

Here what i found..

amped bass vst

I set the gain at 2.6, b-m-t at 5. ultra hi and lo off.

input trim at -8

I used a 3 sigma 8x10 IR but kazrog one would be perfectly fine also.

added a density mk3 compressor set aggresively at 3/4 drive, p3 timing. color maxed

no di or distortion or common bass trick. i kept it simple.

I see you've discussed your bass sound in other threads on this sub-forum, so thanks for those as well!
