This is Biab Win/Mac using MiniHost with RapidComposer VSTi Full and Ample Bass VSTi with over 700 Riffs.
RapidComposer Beta now has a new added feature that allows you to convert a midi file with keyswitches into a Relative form Phrase with the keyswitches for the VSTi, this allows you to place the phrases over any key/scale/chord.

Set the track to Ample Bass Vsti
Set Controller Set to Ample Sound Electric & Acoustic Basses
Set Articulation Set to your Bass
Set the Midi Phrase with to: Convert To Relative Form > Convert Articulations In Phrase
Save to Phrase Library

If you don't have the Full RapidComposer version you can have two separate phrases, one with the keyswitches that stays as Absolute and another, the actual notes that are converted to Relative form.
**Remove the String keyswitches at the very top of the midi file, as they won't work because you are changing the Phrases across chords/keys/scales. Keep the keyswitches for the notes on the same notes across the chord track under the midi notes Phrases it belongs to.

I have Ample Bass Upright, but only RC LE version at the moment. Looking to upgrade RC to full version.

I've been thinking about how to integrate ABU Riffs (Best collection of bass riffs I've found, along with some from KeyFax/GrooveMonkee!) into RC and was looking at http://www.musicdevelopments.com/harmonizationt.html

Can you run through how you're using the riffs?
Can I just drag n' drop from ABU Riffer into a RC track or do I need to export from ABU as midi and import into RC as midi or is there a simpler method?

I use both Live and Reaper as DAW's

When you drag a MIDI file over RapidComposer tracks, and hold down Ctrl, the MIDI file (riff) will be analysed for chords, and converted to 'chord-relative' form, that you can drop under any chords.
It depends on the riff or phrase shape, but if a harmony cannot be determined you can also use harmonization to convert the notes.

I set the key of the riff to the same as RC then
drag it into RC from Ample
with the RC track Set to ABU VST and controller set to Ample Basses
Articulation set to ABU
then click Convert to Relative Form with Convert Articulations in Phrases ticked. You want the notes to stay Absolute until you convert them with Convert Articulations ticked so RC don't convert the Keyswitches to relative notes first, if it has already converted them you can convert back to Absolute notes then tick Convert Articulation in Phrase and and Convert to Relative Form.
Now save the Phrase in the RC Library.
*Note this won't work if you have pitch bends and controllers in the phrases, not with the Basses so much but the Ample guitars use Pitch Bends & contollers in their phrases, at the moment RC can't store the pitch bends & controllers in the individual Phrases (maybe next version ??), so you need to import the pitch bend phrases manually into RC then change it to fit the chord/key then drag them into Reaper, join them all together then import the whole track from Reaper back into RC, this way you will have the pitch bends or controllers in a track in RC. You can do this also with RCvst loaded in a Reaper track to position the phrase with bends/controllers in it to the correct position in Reaper to the RCvst chord track.
So as it is playing through the phases in RC sending the midi to the Reaper track with ABUvst loaded after the RCvst in the chain, it will play the pitch bend/controller phrases in Reaper.

Pitch bends would be good to have incorporated, I've come across a couple of good bass riffs with them.

I don't fully understand these instructions.
I set the controller to your file (which I installed in DB) but the articulation just shows N/A and nothing else?
I'm using standalone RC though (I just upgraded to full) so do I need to use RC as a VST in this case?

I'm using the ABP in the pic, just set it the same but with ABU2 in Articulation Set.
You need to be in Note Editing Mode to add more articulations to the phrases.
The second pic shows how to convert to Relative Form with Articulations, then save the riff at the bottom.
*Note if the Articulations are still not showing make sure the text format is the same as in the Code: above or just download the rcCTRL from dropbox.
It will work in both standalone and VST.

Is there something wrong with the file?
It's not reading any of the articulation sets, none of them show in the drop down when Ample Sound is selected for controller set.

Edit:

Now they're showing! I had it installed in a folder under DB but moved it to the root of DB and now the articulation sets are showing.

I searched for this function for a long time, we even asked Ample Sound to integrate this functionality in the riffer, they promised to do it soon, but it is still not on the agenda it seems.
