Dear betatesters, (those who wrote here, <grin>)

please try the Demo and you'll have the full license

OS X versions AU and VST Demo freely downloadable here:
http://dashsignature.com/download/Knaga ... U_VSTi.zip

[Note that this is the first release of Knagalis porting to Mac,
we checked the Demo in various hosts but with only one Mac machine, please help us reporting bugs, if you find any. Thanks]

Limitations of the Demo : max 20 minutes usage each time you load the plugin, unlimited trials of 20 minutes each.
Can't save presets. And only half of the instruments samples are included.
(And of course no Felyon's instruments either, see above)

We hope you'll love Knagalis

A quick run showed that the demo works fine on my laptop (G4 iBook OSX 10.4.11), GarageBand, Mu.Lab UL 3.2.2

How is the vibrato supposed to work?

I would prefer to use it with aftertouch.
The way it is implemented is quite difficult to handle.

When you turn off Vib and offSet is set quite high or low you get an Glissando effect like the Glide function.

I experience some strange effects when playing legato with fast changes.
Sound is loosing high frequencies and is detuning.

MacOs 10.6.4
Ableton Live 8.1.4

Thanks Jazz Franco and hivkorn

Depth can be negative or positive : offSet Knob
Rate : Time knob
Depth Sensivity : Velocity Knob

Yes I remember you asked and I will add that as well, but why is difficult?
For aftertouch, you like it to depth and rate or just depth?

Yes I meant to use it that way, E.G. linking ModWheel to the Vib switch I could
change from Vib to pitch envelope (auto bending) while playing

That's not good! please tell me more. Thanks
Also it's the AU or the VST, and can you try with another host?

Post

It has been the AU, but today I can't reproduce it.
AU and VST are running fine.

Maybe the Mac only needed a reboot, because I installed Knagalis over the previous version.

Still I am not happy with the playability of the vibrato, as you have to control two parameters (speed or Time and depth or offSet).

Velocity doesn't seem to have any effect?

I would prefer to control the depth with aftertouch and the speed with an assignable controller.

An option to stop the drone would be helpful in many situations, especially when playing Live.
Maybe hold pedal or assignable controller.

ok I check that and add aftertouch for vibrato depth,

The Drone volume is an assignable controller already, maybe you mean something else?

Note that in sync mode the Drone does stop, but it takes 10 seconds due to a fixed release time,
maybe I can make that shorter

Post

I meant s.th. like an AllNotesOff command for the drone to stop at once.

This is needed to reproduce stop turning a hurdys wheel or take the pressure from a bagpipes bag.
Bordun instruments have no sustain, they start and stop playing instantly.

For these kind of instruments I use the Free option for the drones, because my bordun sounds are looped and they should not retrigger with each note.

Post

Hi, yes that's right, but Knagalis does respond to AllNotesOff, the MIDI message, and you can send that with a switch or other controller to immediately stop the Drone, doesn't work? For live performance there are mani MIDI softwares which allow you to mak a single key for instance to send a chosen MIDI message.
Well if you like I could add that in Knagalis, like maybe the lowest or highest note for the keyboard to send the AllNotesOff

Another way is to map a MIDI pedal to the Drone volume,
but the drawback is that if the pedal is not continuos, E.G. it's a switch on off, then it jumps from zero to max volume.
