I love Solar Revolution!! Are you going to put it on your website?zircon wrote:Zebra has been wonderful for me as an inspirational tool. Check out this "spacesynth" song, for example, which evolved out of messing w/ Z2 sounds. Nearly every synth is from Zebra!

Or how about this one, a bossa nova/drum and bass tune uses Z2 for the smooth pads, bassline, leads, and rhodes:

Most of the song developed by simply loading up a new patch and improvising over the beat. Such a great plugin, Urs!

It will actually be on a compilation album of spacesynth music from a UK label... probably shouldn't be posting the link to that track ahead of time.. I'll post about it when it's done though

Whoa boy, I've enjoyed the Zebra tunes in this thread, but here's something with completely different stripes:
Arctic Sunset
http://www.wusik.com/song.php?id=1601
very abstract ambient piece: no drums, no melody, but not a soundscape either, an influence from my modernish classic music.
I bought Zebra2 long ago during that infamous group buy but found the programming too daunting for my limited skills. But the recent ear-blowing OldSkool demos by mkastrup rekindled my interest. I actually bought the Transmission sound-set, since it sounded more like tutorial material, which I sorely needed. Three sounds (4 instances) are from Transmission and the other two from tas' excellent factory remix. I do not have any kind of controller, nor a keyboard, so I'm learning how to use Tobybear's mcc program to use my mouse to control the XY pads, but this technique does not appear in the above piece yet.
Those Zebra XY-pads are a diamond mine for ambient artists ...

Lots of nice dark ambient stuff in that track Is it internal reverb you are using or something else ?YBaCuO wrote:Whoa boy, I've enjoyed the Zebra tunes in this thread, but here's something with completely different stripes:

track 1: Z2 + filterscape
track 2: filterscapeVA + filterscape
I wouldn't know how to 'categorize' this piece... genre? who knows...
anyway, enjoy...

Nice progression of sounds and ideas there. You've got a nice clean style, although sometimes I felt the frequency spectrum was getting a little crowded. Where's the continuation?mkastrup wrote:A little jazzy snippet from me where i fiddle around with a strumming jazz guitar and some brass:

Which sounds are Zebra and which are Filterscape? I liked the rhythmic interjections starting at 0:15+ and 0:58+ the best; I'd like to hear them stand out a bit more and to have more of them if this piece continues. The distorted guitar-like sound, while nice, seems too close to it and pales in comparison. Where are you going with this piece?tribalogical wrote:Here's a snippet from a track called "wilderness"... composed using Live 6... only 2 tracks in this section, 100% u-he goodness!:

Here's another abstract ambient piece but very rhythmic:
Nostalgia
http://www.wusik.com/song.php?id=1605
This uses one instance (guess where I learned that technique!) of a slightly modified (arp expanded) OldSkool Guitar patch run through the MFM2 Camelion Delay patch. As with the previous Arctic Sunset ambient piece, I added a little Classic Reverb from Kjaerhus Audio (Ambient Vocal patch).
I'm glad to have found the OldSkool Guitar patches. It was the funky guitar demos that attracted me to Zebra in the first place. Now I've got something for my Zebra2.
By the way, this piece sound better to me on my headphones and sounds too bright through speakers. Does anyone know of a plugin that simulates the attenuation caused by headphones?
Cheers,
YBaCuO

Glad you like Oldskool Regarding headphones, well suppose you could compensate for the highs but i wouldnt trust it. Lots of other things have to be taking into account like ear fatique, hence the less percieved highs in the headphones. Anyway, its a tricky thing making mixes or sounds with headphones only.YBaCuO wrote:Here's another abstract ambient piece but very rhythmic:

Here is a snippet of a big f... performance patch i'm working on. The idea is to have the patch controlled by only 1 XY. The upper left is FM based, Upper right is Full throttle, Lower left is Soft sine, Lower Right is Strings.
I then mapped the XY settings to my touch XY pad on Novation Remote SL, so what im stuck with is Aftertouch, Velocity, Modwheel and the 4 corners of XY. It turned out to be VERY hard to make a live performance with this because i'm using my left hand for bass stuff and right for chords and melody. So whos gonna put his finger on the XY touch pad ??? Now i know why the big organ players use bass pedal heh heh
Anyways, here is the snippet 3 mins long live performance with me playing that one patch wishing i had a third arm:
