Anyone tried creating patches for FX. Atm. i'm looking into various FM stuff within Zebra. To get the really interesting things from FM you are better of having Zebra come up with random sounds and then try backtrack when something comes out good. When i'm lazy i just sample the sounds and move on to change setup for new variations.
Here is some random dark FM FX made with Zebra:

Anatomy of a track! I may have tweaked the original patches a little here and there, but you can still reconstruct the basics with this...YBaCuO wrote: Which sounds are Zebra and which are Filterscape? I liked the rhythmic interjections starting at 0:15+ and 0:58+ the best; I'd like to hear them stand out a bit more and to have more of them if this piece continues. The distorted guitar-like sound, while nice, seems too close to it and pales in comparison. Where are you going with this piece?
Cheers,
YBaCuO
track 01: Zebra + FS provides the rhythmic parts
- Zebra 2: preset: belltable 01 tas
- Filterscape: preset: step-o-matic 02 tas
track 02: Filterscape VA + FS provides the 'lead/melodic" part
- FS VA: preset: [bio] Mind Hunter
- FS: preset: SimpleMovement - Yeno
what you hear in this clip wasn't EQ'd nor had much mixing done to it... in the final mix, I separated the parts a bit more (EQ, pan, etc.), yes, but not overly so...
later in the piece, there is a very sparse percussive track that comes in, picking up and adding to the rhythmic movement, a low bass-pad, and some environmental ambience... mostly voices, machines... rather urban-esque... the "wilderness" being one of our own making....
thanks for your comments, YBa...
peace,
tribalogical

Looks like this thread needs a bump So i'll bump in with a SFX landscape called Big Wash. With the arrival of Zebra 2.2 the Reverb got a huge (in my ears) upgrade/fix which is very for nice for the big spacey patches.

EDIT... I removed a mp3 since i had already posted something similar... ooops

I just posted this in an MFM thread, but thought it might be appropriate here, too.
Just released a new album that uses Zebra2, MFM, and Filterscape pretty extensively. It's called The Big Bang by atom(bang).
Listen to some of the tracks on MySpace:

There is also high-quality streaming on facebook and LastFM. The links are on the myspace page if you are interested in hearing it in better than 96kbps!
Enjoy,

My band Lousy Robot just finished up a Christmas track called "Christmas in Berlin" that features four Zebras (and several of Howard's excellent new presets) and a tiny bit of MFM2. Take a listen here:

Just noticed this thread,
I don't reckon much of what I have to offer will be enjoyable to you guys but a good deal of the lastest music featured on the site my signature links to features Zebra...
This is the latest: monocyl5
The bass line at the beginning alternates between an Ibanez electric and Zebra. Both of the lead sounds are Zebra processed through a V-Synth. At the end when the whole track turns into chaos, the bassline is being processed by MFM2 (among other things) which is being controlled by Numerology (sorry, 4 LFOs and 2 MSEGs just isn't enough modulation ).
Like I said, none of this stuff is gentle and some of it can get painful at high volume. Just thought I would demonstrate what someone with no concept of "pleseant" can do with U-he products.
Peace!
P.S. @mkastrup... the sounds you design for Zebra are really impressive!

Refreshingly innocent, Lou Reed-style song with Z2 character sounds!metajack wrote:My band Lousy Robot
